why is Kerry using Toby Keith music at his appearance today?
It's "How Do You Like Me Now?" -- a sad resentful, defiant, little piece with (admittedly) a great beat. A real hateful edge to the lyrics. Juvenile sentiment.

Music by ardent Republican, pro-war TOBY KEITH???

2. I guess it's like
the Repubs using Springsteen's "Born in the USA" at rallies without any sense of irony, goes back I think to Reagan times... But it's sad if true. Just makes Kerry look idiotic.

17. Yah, they still do that, too.
heard it last week at the McCain whatever-it-was on CSPAN.

I thought Bruce had asked them too stop?

28. Oh, yeah!
Ray-gun et al were so stupid they thought 'Born in the USA' was pro-American rather than anti-Vietnam war. Bruce told them to cease and desist immediately if not sooner!

3. probably because like you admitted, it has a great beat...
although I've never heard the song. In any case I don't let politics ruin my entertainment. There are too many entertainers out there to have to keep a bead on.

29. Speaking of Willie, why did he sing "Beer for my Horses" with Toby Keith?
It's a nice little song about lynching people in the name of vigilante justice. :-(

8. Poor choice
Even if Toby Keith wasn't a Republican. The lyrics are about a guy taking vindictive, spiteful joy in the heartbreak of a woman who wouldn't date him in high school years before.

Not exactly uplifting and positive.

9. Okay -- I've kept it on
(Can't say I'm paying any attention, though, sorry but he's just boring.)

However, they've just got country music on in general. I don't think they were actually using it as some sort of theme music. BUT, I sure was worried for a minute there.

IOW: false alarm.

Come on folks, country music is the local currency of a lot of the country. Every time I head to my sister's in New Mexico I am reminded of that fact.

And anyway, "When in Rome..."

Much smarter choice. They are brave women and Keith is a cowardly asshole.

Interesting.

from the right wingers, I guess Kerry wants to take back the music. The Republicans can keep Toby Keith, for all I care.

14. For the love of the Dixie Chicks!
Come on... does Kerry have his head buried up his ass? Toby Keith lost my ear when he slammed the Dixie Chicks, then wrote that pathetic ra-ra war song.

15. You sillies. Don't you see what this means?
It's a near certainty that Keith had to have given a copyright waiver (I bet this will make the political-gossip press in the next few days so we'll know for sure).

And do you know what THAT means?

Let me put it this way. Can you see TK and the Dixie Chicks "reconciling" at the Dem convention in July?

Can you say "dagger to the heart" of George W. Bush?

Moreover, if you're in Oklahoma, you play the music popular in OK.

well, I'm glad its a false alarm. It's not as though there is nothing else to worry about. My worryometer is really spiralling up today anyhow. No real reason. Just saying.
