Someone needs to tell these poor WA folks that raucus isn't very presidential.

1. Thanks for this...I just saw Dean on c-span in Tucson...
and there were 3000 "raucus" Dean Supporters there, too.
"I've seen no letup. I don't think he's lost any support," said Jerry Stockman, a 64-year-old counselor from Bellevue. "This is an ideal situation — he's the comeback guy now."

5. Washington will always be raucous for Dean
I guess its not considered very presidential to have "Baghdad Jim" McDermott to introduce him either, but damn if Seattle doesn't love it.

"Dean's antiwar, anti-tax-cut message made him wildly popular in Seattle when he first brought his campaign here last spring. In August he drew more than 8,000 people to a rally at downtown Seattle's Westlake Park."

As a Washingtonian, who has been raucously present at all 3 of the aforementioned appearances in Seattle, I can personally attest to Dean's wild popularity here.

6. Dean was presidential at the raucous Washington appearance

He was great. So was Jim McDermott, as usual.

Thanks to Andy Stephenson, who got me in with a press pass, I gave an autographed copy of the book to Howard Dean's campaign manager today, who carried it around rather prominently and then gave it to Dr. Dean.

That left me with only one copy in hand, which was a flawed copy I'd been keeping just to show folks if I got a chance to give the good one to Dean.

These flawed copies might be worth something. I refer to them as the copies with "appendicitis" (they are missing their Appendix). A man offered Andy a hundred bucks to get one. There are actually collectors who like this stuff -- it may be that any of these early editions, especially the Plan Nine ones, which have smaller print runs than the Talion ones, might become collector's editions.

Anyway, I didn't get to hang on to my "Appendicitis copy" because Candy Crowley from CNN took it, said after reading it on the plane she's giving it to Judy Woodruff.

Back to the topic: We really have a wonderful slate of Democratic candidates. I am more enthusiastic about more candidates than I have ever been in 30 years of voting. And I must say, you had to be there -- Dean was fabulous, and if TV showed something else, they had to edit damn hard to get just the wrong expression.

Hope Howard Dean's media people read this stuff sometimes. One media training thing he needs for TV is to stop the "chopping motion" with his hands and use the Bill Clinton gently-clasped-fist-with-thumb-up, or one of the other emphasis gestures. The chopping gesture always works better in person, hits the wrong subliminals when on closeup with TV.

Bev
