Nothing will change unless we get Congress back.
That is the key to everything--to begin undoing the damage. To restore law and order. To impeach. To clean house.

1. We are thinking alike this evening. BEFORE anyone "leaves the party"
they should do their damned best to get progressives/Democrats in congress to defeat/impeach BUSH! The Green Party "calling for impeachment" is a nice jesture - but it won't happen without a progressive/democratic congress!

28. the dlc is co-opting the progressive caucus in california - deleted
impeachment and indictment language from progressive caucus resolution to investigate Bush (just last week) promoted a pro-bush bomb iran resolution, did this in a very undemocratic process with most progressive members not present to weigh in and prevent the bullying, strong arming of right wing dlc functionaries. the party continues to be hijacked.

2. The problem is that most people like their own Congressman, but think the
others are bad. It takes an awful lot to beat an incumbant.

I believe in other avenues to the revolution you speak of. Avenues which Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks and other effective agents of change and justice have pursued.

8. I posted a similar thought last night
Elect John Conyers Judicial Committee Chair this November

If you are less than enthusiastic about the particular Democratic candidate or incumbent for your district or if you're disappointed and discouraged with the current Democratic Party leadership -- consider this:

"If Democrats retake the House, 10 members of the Progressive Caucus would become chairmen of committees," said Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor and publisher of the Nation.

Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., would take over the Judiciary Committee -- the panel that produced the Patriot Act -- and Rep. George Miller, D-Martinez, would run the Education and Workforce Committee."

20. I've been saying this for a year now.
Stop these "X in 'o8" posts. If we dont gain control of both houses of Congress it doesnt matter if we win the presidency in 08. A Dem president would be impotent.
DEMOCRATS UNITE!!!! WIN SOLID CONTROL OF CONGRESS in '06!!!!!
(End of sermon)

The right wing did not ascend to power by demanding purity and conformism of thought rather let the 100 flowers blossom(with apologies to Chairman Mao)

21. Nothing will change until the votes are counted properly
I refuse to donate to any organization that does not put that issue first. Because, all the time and effort is wasted if the votes aren't properly counted. I'm tired of expending my energy just to have a president appointed, or the elections rigged.

25. Exactly, we need to win congress, and that's not gonna happen unless
Edited on Sat Feb-04-06 02:23 AM by BigYawn
dems come up with a positive agenda listing the
policy initiatives we will deliver if we win majority.

Let's face it, Dumbya is not getting impeached so long
as repuglicans control congress. Not gonna happen.
Stop drooling and wasting time. Also stop whinning about
stolen elections. The elections in Nov 2005 went our way.
If they have perfected the art of stealing elections
without getting caught, I bet they would not have lost
last November. An immaculate conspiracy involving dozens
of technicians, county supervisors, programmers etc.
can never stay quiet through THREE major elections.

Where is our contract with America?
Where is a list of 10 or 13 items we will deliver?
Where is a SHORT, 1 page document listing our agenda?
(voters are too busy to read thru long winded platforms,
or should I say too lazy)

And this going after spying really frosts me. Why is it
obvious to me that most people are more scared of being
attacked by terror than they are of phones being listened
in? Most people do not commit crimes and are not trying
to hide anything.

Well, enough rant for one evening.
