What Do We Stand For, In Broad Themes?
Someone posted a similar question the other night, and I can't find it to kick it, so maybe we can start the discussion again.

I don't mean individual issues, like affordable healthcare or raising the minimum wage.

But, thematically, what underlies those positions?

The press pushes the Republican propoganda that American conservatives stand for strong national security, less government and lower taxes.

So what do we stand for? In one line, what are our core beliefs?

10. We stand for nothing if you go by our elected representatives.
It is every man/woman for themselves. The one time our Democrats in congress did well was fighting Bush's Social Security scam, but that only happened because the public was already solidly against it.

About all you can say is they're not Republicans (well not totally anyway). We won't win national elections if this keeps up.

14. Five words: Civility. Maturity. Balance. Honesty. Love.
I guess it will be a hard sell, but it would be a great place to start.
