Bill Richardson on Clark, "the next president of the United States"

MESILLA, N.M. Jan. 31 — As he barnstormed across two states crucial to keeping his campaign alive, presidential candidate Wesley Clark sharpened his criticism of President Bush Saturday, calling him "the most divisive, polarizing leader in recent American history."

Clark, who has targeted Arizona, New Mexico and Oklahoma as the states most likely to deliver him a badly needed win, abandoned his criticism of front-runner John Kerry which dominated appearances Friday, and instead trained his sights on Bush.

At a rally on a picturesque town square in this southern New Mexico community, Clark was introduced by Democratic Gov. Bill Richardson who called him "a compassionate, generous leader" with momentum and electability. Richardson, who has not endorsed any candidate for president, had appeared with Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., earlier in the day.

Nevertheless, Richardson hailed Clark as "the next president of the United States" in Spanish to the gathering of some 300 Clark supporters.

2. Didn't he say that about Edwards earlier?
I think he's saying that about everyone he introduces.

6. Yeah, he did..I found the article:
"(01/31/04) New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson and U.S. Sen. John Edwards swapped praise Saturday at an Edwards' campaign event in the upcoming caucus state.

"Are you ready for the next president?" Richard asked a crowd of about 350 that came to see Edwards at a community center in Albuquerque."

I think he's supposed to be neutral because he's party chair or something.

5. Did he?
Then he's just angling to be someone's VP.

But, is it true? Introducing someone as the next Pres is really good...even better in Spanish!

15. Yes, he did
I was trying to remember which one it was. People were upset that he was favoring one candidate over another.

7. Bill Richardson
is the chairman of the Dem Convention this year. He'll say that about all the candidates, and he won't endorse anyone before there's a clear winner.
