I say this every year at this time, and I am saying it again
If you are planning on watching the State of the Union speech tonight, DO NOT continue to watch TV after he is done blathering. DO NOT watch the television press nitwits give him their annual luxurious verbal backrub.

You may as well take a ball-peen hammer to your forehead, jump into a shark tank with a pork chop tied around your neck, or use a cheese-grater to clean your tongue. The sensation you'd feel doing any of these things will match the raw disgust, horror and insanity that will wash over you like tides of vomit if you are dumb enough to listen to these asshats spin the speech.

Don't do it. Save your sanity and your stomach lining. They are not going to say anything you need to hear.

See you next year. :)

Try to get as many pictures of the people taking pictures as possible. And their vehicles... document as much as you can beyond the compelling photojournalism stuff. Stray pics can be of critical importance, and i'm sure there will be a "presence" there tonight. Good luck.

I figure I'll watch that, fantasize about Viggo, go have my way with the Pachapapa and then since he dozes off early, go turn on the laptop, log into DU and Blogs and then watch the Daily Show....

:hi:

Reading Will's description was about as accurate as a description I can think of in terms of the experience after the SOTU speach from that lying sociopath called our Emperor....the media will be doing their job to give * the equivalent of a blowjob...I figure why watch one....instead, I'll get aroused by Viggo and go make my hubby happy... ;-)

30. I don't know which is worse to me
The shrubster with his embellishments and outright lies or CNN with theirs. I just saw a segment about parents who had lost their son in Iraq and were showing how much honor he had and showed the Mom hugging an Iraqi woman and (of course) crying, I mean this shit was so thick, I about lost it.

I am the mother of a soldier in Iraq and I can guarantee anyone that if it was my son, I would not be so obliging to this government and CNN. They can all kiss my ass!!!

31. You are right. It's gloat time. Hatch Allen Santorum and all the little
non-angel propagandists on corporate tv are going to strut. Then we'll go on to the next abomination while we wait for the pendulum to swing.

Since we already know what they're going to say and how they're going to say it - Will is right.

I may not watch the rebuttal. Even if the Governor from VA (selected by whom?) gives a good one - I can catch it on C-Span.

That's the only way I can watch him speak. Then again, I don't think anything is strong enough to deal with the babble of the cable news whores. I like to make it a game to see how long I can stand it.

Here's my own hint. SOTU drinking games can be made smoking games. It's a hit when he says terror, 9/11, etc.

I should just watch a movie instead. Perhaps Good Night and Good Luck?

Peace. :patriot:

As far as I'm concerned, taking a ball-peen hammer to my forehead, jumping into a shark tank with a pork chop tied around my neck, or using a cheese-grater to clean my tongue would be infinitely more entertaining than watching the rehash of Slumpy's non-speech.

And a whole lot more productive too.
