"unitary executive" almost 5500 times on White House Web site
I did a search on the White House Web site using the term "unitary executive" and got 5490 results:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/query.html?col=colpics&qt=unitary+executive&submit.x=16&submit.y=22

Here is the first "hit":

The executive branch shall construe section 530D of title 28, and related provisions in section 202 of the Act, in a manner consistent with the constitutional authorities of the President to supervise the unitary executive branch and to withhold information the disclosure of which could impair foreign relations, the national security, the deliberative processes of the Executive, or the performance of the Executive's constitutional duties.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/11/20021104-3.html

I just thought this info would be useful to somebody.

2. He used the word "dictator" early on . . .
But that turned out to be too "on the nose," so now they've gone with a better, newspeak term, "unitary executive."

There, doesn't that sound better? It means "dictator."

6. Recommended! Great job, LuckyTheDog! Please post in GD:Alito, too.
This could be a great resource for people furiously trying to convince their Senators of the danger to the Constitution posed by Alito, who is a great proponent of the unitary executive theory.

What a stroke of genious to do that search!

:applause:

16. "picnics in the Senate"
I think you have the Senate mixed up with the House of Representatives. Where Patriotic pirates like Texas Tommy "the Buuug-man" DeLay, go on his all expense paid mercy picnics in Russia and elaborate golfing trips on corporate jets, to nirvana and all points east or west, but mostly south.

Don't it make you sleep well at night, knowing that Guys like "Brownie" are all over the country doing a heckuva job protecting you and the country from evil dictator types around the world. I think the prez reason the called that guy "Brownie," was as plain as the "Brownie" nose on "Brownie's" face! Guys like "Brownie" are protecting you and spying on your neighbors for their own good and to keep me safe from you. Ain't it GRAND, how democracy in America works nowadays, like a giant, well oiled, eggbeater?

Gawd truly is smilin' on the USA. Ask Bush he'll tell ya!

8. In its most benign sense, "unitary executive" means that the
president is effectively "dictator" of the Executive branch. I.e., no one working within the executive branch may do or so anything in their official capacity without the president's approval.

This extends to scientists whose research may contradict policy positions, whistleblowers who observed malfeasance and criminal activity, and Justice Department lawyers whose analysis of the laws and
Constitution may suggest that the president's positions and actions may be legally dubious or even explicitly forbidden.

Now you know what he meant when he said he was a "uniter".
