'Stop Hillary' bandwagon gathers pace
Edited on Sun Jan-29-06 11:28 AM by emad
The Sunday Times January 29, 2006

Sarah Baxter, Washington

THE frontrunner for the Democrat nomination for president in 2008, Hillary Clinton, is heading into a hail of opposition from within her own party after a poll showed last week that most Americans would “definitely” not vote for her.
Aides in Bill Clinton’s White House are warning she could be a risky choice. To their left, an anti-war “stop Hillary” bandwagon is gathering momentum, threatening her ability to unite the Democrats.

Mike McCurry, Bill Clinton’s White House press secretary, fears the 2008 campaign could be brutal for the former first lady, now a senator for New York. He remembers how she became a “lightning rod” for the right during her husband’s years in office.

“She has proven that she works hard at being senator and does that job well, but bringing the country together and moving it in a different direction is an entirely different matter,” McCurry said. “It is very hard to reinvent yourself in politics.”

3. To stir up right wing haters
does not take much energy. I'm not a pre-general election Hillary supporter but if she gets the nomination this Vet is ready to go to war with "conservatives" in this country who are nothing but ignorance and hate.

4. Let me be more forthcoming
She is saying nothing for me with the exception of coming out after Kerry. I'm sure that the popularity of Kerrys decision didn't play into that.

Gore speaks for me, Kerry speaks for me and Murtha speaks for me.

She just sings with the band.

6. Republicans sure are scared of Hillary
Too bad so many D's are willing to join in and post their workproduct here.

We need an eleventh commandment not to speak ill of our fellow D's. But that seems to be the newest fade on DU.

14. Scared of her? They'd LOVE her to run. Every drooling
mouthbreathing RWer would come out of the backwoods to vote against "Hitlery" and Dems would be in the same damn boat they're in now. Is it fair? No. Is it what would happen? Yep.

10. No
My Iowa flag should make that obvious. Why is my residence important in this debate?

18. What's to understand?
Edited on Sun Jan-29-06 11:20 PM by im10ashus
I mean, I wasn't talking to you and you are asking me to respond.

What do you want me to say? If I wasn't talking to YOU and you are trying to make a POINT, I wish you would MAKE it. Because you are looking like you aren't paying attention to the conversation. Asking me to respond to your non-topic is, well, idiotic. Get a grip.

5. Hillary is no uniter that is for
sure. She has done nothing to address those who oppose the war. She has not moderated her views in the least.

She'd be yet another DLC Democrat who goes down in flames trying to appease the righ and running as Republican lite.

I'm with Molly

Vote NO to Hillary!

7. What a bunch of shit!
She hasn't even announced if she is running in 2008 and the press and the people are already trashing her. All the stories that need told and they do a "Bash Hillary" piece. What a waste of space.

9. The Republicans would LOVE for Hillary to run. They would

massacre her. That's why I for one am glad to be on the anti-Hillary bandwagon.

Voice your disapproval now.

Jeeze how do you think Bush made it past McCain??

I voice my disapproval - Gore speaks for me, Kerry speaks for me and Murtha speaks for me.
