After the SOTU address, OUR TALKING POINT MUST BE:

The Republicans Think We Have Too Much Health Insurance! Do we? Do you?

from http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com

"The president wants to make health care his political issue this year. No Democrat should open their mouth this year on this topic without first saying this: The president thinks the problem is that Americans have too much health insurance; we don't.

Health care policy is an immensely complicated issue. And that complexity can sometimes be a cover for politicians pushing policies that would screw most families. In this case, however, the president and his supporters have done everyone the favor is simplifying what they're up to and what they want to do.

The president thinks you're over-insured. He thinks you have too much health insurance."

1. Health insurance is a winning issue for us
If they respond with "socialized medicine" or "socialism", we can just respond with the Medicare drug benefit was corporate socialism, it socialized costs for Big Pharma, but allowed them the privatize the profits. So, Republicans are for socialism when it benefits multi-billion dollar corporations like Pfizer, but against it when it benefits individuals.

If they respond with "you'll die in line waiting to see a specialist", we respond with the fact that in places like France & Canada, citizens usually have much greater access to their primary care doctors, and all studies indicate that this is a key to nipping major problems in the bud. And, if you compare statistics, the people of Canada, Australia, Japan and western Europe are all generally healthier than Americans despite those countries spending about half what we do on medical care.

3. Talking points...tasty
Makes the whole process seem so human.

Get a big organization or two to write some key phrases, make sure to check with a PR group or two, and then have everyone say the same thing at the same time.

What a wonderful system we've constructed.
