When we regain power, we're going to need all the executive powers
that Bush has created for himself, in order to fix the incredible mess the GOP has created, AND to swiftly bring these criminals to justice.

Discuss.

1. Those executive powers can be used to keep the Dems from regaining power.

Also, they're heinously unconstitutional. The Constitution is the legal document that incorporates this nation as a nation. No Constitution, no USA. Period.

Finally, a dictator with a (D) is still a dictator. That's not how we're supposed to fucking live.

edit: typo

2. I don't think so
I think the point is that we don't need a dictator to have a peaceful and prosperous America.

IF it weren't totally corrupted, the American justice system would have already put these guys behind bars, and IF it weren't totally corrupted, the Congress would have impeached, and wait . . . IF the judiciary weren't totally corrupted, and the voting process totally corrupted, we wouldn't have Bush in the first place.

The answer is a total house cleaning. Restore our consitutional rights, and the balance of power, publicly finance campaigns, do away with the electoral college and the electronic voting machines, and conduct all government business, including elections, in broad daylight. Complete transparency.

Then I'm on my way to the FCC . . .

7. The fact that Bush et al. aren't looking ahead worries me
I'm not seeing any Republicans preparing themselves for the possibility of a Democratic president and a Democratic Congress. I know that they're evil and vicious, but stupid? I don't think so. Why would they be letting Bush get away with these Draconian powers if they thought there was a possibility that they would not be in power forever? Do you see what I mean? It worries me that THEY'RE not worried about their political futures.

10. This is also what worries me
They behave as if they have no intention of ever giving up power.

3. Nope
As much as the bastards deserve it, when we regain power, we need to roll back all of these horrible, fascist laws. We're better than them.

6. "We" are the people not the executive
The real power of the "United States" is the power that comes from power being spread into several provinces, not just the singular province of the executive.

8. Simple plan to take care of most of the damage:
Re-enact the entire United States Code as it existed on January 20, 2001. Gets rid of tax cuts, Patriot Act, bankruptcy changes, Homeland Security, etc.

Have a Congressperson resign and have a Dem governor appoint either Gore or Kerry to serve in their stead-then elect them Speaker of the House. Impeach Bush and Cheney. Gore or Kerry appointed V-P.

Increase the size of the Supreme Court to 11 justices.

Authorize new federal judgeships so that the Bush appointees can be assigned strictly to unimportant shit.

Put Murtha in charge of Iraq.

Then move on to fixing Katrina damage, energy independence, health care, etc.

11. OK, that makes sense
an omnibus bill.

has that ever been done before? could we get our reps to agree on the details enough to get something like that passed?

13. It is simply a do-over. They are not giving up the right to argue
their points later, just erasing everything BushCo wrote on the blackboard. This is something that could be done on the first day of a new Congress.
