Damn! How depressing !
What can you do but continue to fight? Continue to fight against Alito, continue to fight against the theocracy, the neocons, the fascists, the fear-mongerers, the war-is-good crowd. How depressing when so much of the country seems to be insane. Insane with partisanship, hatred, vitriol, and militaristic arrogance. What kind of country have we become? Yes, I am depressed.

1. Insane and stupid... I try to maintain cognitive distance
by living and working overseas... However, the world is a small place... And yes, Dubai would be well within range of fallout from any U.S. attack on Iran...

So yeah, I am pissed, tired and depressed...

like a giant grist mill chewing away at our humanity.

Just remember we are just the current warriors in this age old struggle of good and evil.

Through all civilization there have been those who believe the world is theres to do with what they please and that right and wrong and morality and compassion are the constraints of the weak.

These are amoral, cruel, evil men who must be opposed.

4. Depressed too...
...And mostly when I see around me just how few people are actually paying attention. When it is too late, then they will be asking, "How did this happen?"

14. But NOBODY could have foreseen that letting corporations write the laws
and letting CEOs take all the profits and granting unlimited powers to one person.....would result in such a sick and weak economy.......

5. I Get Knocked Down -- Chumbawamba
We'll be singing
When we're winning
We'll be singing
I get knocked down
But I get up again
You're never going to keep me down
Pissing the night away
Pissing the night away
He drinks a whisky drink
He drinks a vodka drink
He drinks a lager drink
He drinks a cider drink
He sings the songs that remind him
Of the good times
He sings the songs that remind him
Of the better times:
"Oh Danny Boy
Danny Boy
Danny Boy..."
I get knocked down
But I get up again
You're never going to keep me down
Pissing the night away
Pissing the night away
He drinks a whisky drink
He drinks a vodka drink
He drinks a lager drink
He drinks a cider drink
He sings the songs that remind him
Of the good times
He sings the songs that remind him
Of the better times:
"Don't cry for me
Next door neighbour..."
I get knocked down
But I get up again
You're never going to keep me down
We'll be singing
When we're winning
We'll be singing

7. We just have to pick ourselves up and come out like Braddock....
in the Cinderella Man. Nobody is giving up. If, and it is a high probability, Alito is nominated to the Court, it is a defeat for our Party and our country, but what else is new? Yes, it's laudatory to see some Democrats supporting the filibuster but that's what they should be doing. They deserve no accolades for simply doing their jobs.

10. No retreat, no surrender...
I may have shifted distance, but all that does is give me perspective and a little more economic wheretwithal to give 'em hell.

8. We are an 'American Idol' nation. Cheap entertainment without heart.
We are a heartless nation divided by politics and divided on purpose. Bush* is the most divisive president I've seen in 54 years. I'm depressed by it to but fuck them, I'm going to enjoy life even with my phone tapped and my leaders neo-nazis.

12. Those who fight show their allegiance and devotion to the cause.
They are our brothers.

They rest are our shit, and not worthy of the air we expel from our lungs with each breath.

We fight until the battle is over, and should it end not in our favor, let the ones with tepid allegiance to our cause be the first to feel our wrath.

15. Good to cry. It is normal to cut your losses again and again when
nefarious types are in your life. In this case they are the WH. Cry. Grieve. Get out the anger. And you'll see a day come at the end of the process where you will be renewed - though with a new relationship to the world.
