8. Byrd is about process and ellections having consequences - a
fillibuster by Byrd would rquire a not-qualified from the ABA or an overt racist.

Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 04:28 PM by rinsd
Seriously DU's dysfunctional freakouts over someone who didn't carry the water or toe the line is getting beyond funny.

I guess we can add Byrd to the list that includes Obama, Jon Stewart etc etc

11. This is a major point in our country's future
This isnt about toeing the line. We will be dealing with Alito long after Bob Byrd dies. I liked Byrd which is why I am shocked by his vote.

12. That's fine....but why the klan comment then?
Saying I am upset/disappointed/ even outarged with so and so because they voted in a way I wish they hadn't vs. leveling the nastiest smear possible is a little ridiculous.

14. I am upset, disappointed, and outraged...
my emotions got the best of me. Still think Byrd is wrong and he needs to remember that moveon.org is by far his top contributor thus far this year...

16. No, this is just the last straw
Did you notice when he voted with Biden and the other mugwumps in favor of the Republican bankruptcy bill? Did you notice when he voted to close the courthouse doors on class action suits? Did you notice when he voted in favor of John Roberts? Now that we know MSHA's been pulled apart at the seams for the last five years, I suppose we might also ask where he was while that was happening.

He's my senator. I noticed.

And, while I could do some mental gymnastics and look past it, I can't do it this time. Byrd holds himself out as *the* Guardian of the Constitution.

Voting to confirm Alito is not the action of someone who values the Constitution.

Luckily for Byrd, most West Virginians would vote for him in a race against Jesus Christ. Hell, most West Virginians think he *is* Jesus Christ.

So he won't much miss my vote when I leave his spot on the ballot blank in May and November.
