Pls Help Research: Where have protests been prevented?
Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 09:51 AM by madame defarge
The World Can't Wait is filing a lawsuit, protesting the ever-changing *laws* that protect President Bush from hearing or seeing the dissent of the people.

They have asked us (please share among the blogosphere) to help their case by researching all known and publicized incidents where the people were prevented from protesting near the President in the past five years.

They need this information this morning.

Read here for more information:

Please post here or at http://www.democracycellproject.net/blog/archives/2006/01/permit_battle_c.html

Thanks.

(Please kick & recommend so that we can get as much info as possible. Thanks!)

Protesters were placed behind chain linked fence 2 miles off the route. If you had a pro-bush shirt or sign you were allowed on the route. It was disgusting.People were arrested for stepping outside the "freedom of speech" zone.

link is here.

There were more then two people arrested for stepping outside the zone too.

Here also is the transcript for Neel`s hearing.

7. I know there were problems in St Louis.
Here is a link dealing with the protests in St Louis.
http://www.deniselieberman.com/articles/stiflingdissent.htm

There were arrests for "freedom of speech" zone violations.
Also there was an arrest in St Petersburg in fl (two grandmothers no less) at Legends Field.

The charges were dropped.

3. If you could meet
some of the people who are there organizing the protest as I did this last weekend, you would be proud to be represented by them.

They're everyday Americans who decided to stand up and be heard.

10. BIG NEWS!!!!
BIG NEWS: WCW GOT THE SITE THEY PROMISED.

Travis and Marylou were called over to the Reflecting Pool area of the Capitol--the site they were promised in the first meeting--and they were given the permit for Jan. 31 there!!

(This is a victory). Travis' message: They caved; they did NOT want a fight going forward on the 1st amendment issue.
