Yes, I know this is such an elementary question but my wife and I are getting confused and just trying to figure out the filibuster vote count.

on C-SPAN 2 Altio confirmation speeches are going on now. with projected votes for Yes/No votes at 16 tie.

Anyways how many votes does Alito need to pass without the Filibuster happening?

How many votes would cause the Filibuster and is Chaney around the capitol to do the vote.

1. They need 60 votes to end discussion and call for a vote

so, 41 will sustain a fiibuster (because then they could only have 59)

Alito needs 50 to be confirmed (because Cheney will vote in case of a tie)
