A Plea for Campaign money: Kick the GOP in the crotch
With Skinner's permission, I am posting this plea for money to help my friend Robert Ricketts in his bid to unseat incumbent corrupt Randy Neugebauer in the 19th District of Texas. For information on the issues and how to donate, go to: www.robertricketts.com

The long and the short of it is that way out in West Texas they consider this a "safe" Republican seat. Because they thought it was safe, Randy felt free to take money from Abramoff, Delay and a local crook who embezzled 70+ million out of some energy co. investors. Neugebauer is now more vulnerable than he realizes, and Robert is a strong candidate who gets very positive reactions whenever he speaks.

At the very least you will have the satisfaction of knowing that for every dollar you spend here, the Republicans will spend five.

2. I would prefer to give money to a cause that has a chance
This one is dead. If you think the people of TX19 give a rat's ass that their rep is a criminal, you nuts!

"At the very least you will have the satisfaction of knowing that for every dollar you spend here, the Republicans will spend five."

No satisfaction there at all, sorry.

3. This cause has a chance.
I don't know if you are in Texas' 19th or not. We need eight points from where we were in '04, that's it.

And I can tell you that when I talk to ordinary folks here in the 19th, and I explain about Abramoff and Delay and the relationship to Neugebauer I get reactions from "Ricketts has my vote" to "I'm staying home". Can we get eight points? I think so.

I know we can get them in Abilene, I know we can get them in Big Spring, but of course, I can't say that about Lubbock. I know that in the current climate here, as in the rest of the country, there aren't any "safe" Republican seats, or at least there shouldn't be.

What you do with your money is your business. Saying we don't have a chance here with the things busting open that we've been finding isn't helpful.

I say we do have a chance.

As for the folks of the 19th, I would have agreed with you six months ago. But since then I've been through biopsies, surgery, cancer treatment and a lot of other stuff, and the people of West Texas were nothing but good, kind and generous toward me. So I've changed my view about them.
