The Republican, who is up for re-election this year, will be celebrating his 71st birthday this month at the lobbying firm Cassidy and Associates, charging political action committees up to $2,000 each to attend.

Burns moves funds eventWASHINGTON - With ethics becoming an ever hotter campaign issue, Sen. Conrad Burns on Thursday scrapped plans to hold a fundraiser next week at the headquarters of a major lobbying firm here and instead will hold it at the GOP senatorial campaign headquarters.
Mark Baker, Burns' campaign chairman, refused to comment on why the fundraiser was moved.
