Why Isn't Dean Polling Well In South Carolina?
Dean supporters, any thoughts? Does he not have a good organization down there?

I mean, considering it's only the third state you'd think he'd be polling better. Didn't his campaign stake out a lot of ground in S.C. ?

1. Not to my knowledge.
He never expected to win SC. He's been focusing his campaign on Michigan I think.

3. SC not really natural Dean territory

The campaign and SEIU I think are working down there, not with high expectations. I think the idea is Washington and Michigan are more likely to pan out. But if Kerry sweeps next Tuesday, IMHO, it's just about all over.

Had this started on the West Coast, it would be a Dean steamroller but we gotta let Iowa and NH make the decision.

Just a comment, (positive) I think Democratic voters are being sorta fickle within the Dem. field this time because they're so eager to trounce Bush*. So they're going with whoever looks most like a winner.

Also I think independents and veterans tended to go Kerry in NH. And these groups do play into the question of beating Chimpy.

ALL fifty states (well, all the ones with primaries or caucauses )will have a vote this primary season. Dean is going to ride this all the way to the convention. His supporters will never give up. IOW, it will be over when Kerry gets the magic number of delegates, and not a second before.

4. MR we're the underdogs there too ya know
Despite having Clyburn and Hollings, Johnny Edwards seems to have a lead there. It would be a nice upset but I like Edwards.

6. there are still a lot of undecideds
I think this is going to be a dead-heat race between Kerry and Edwards.

This should be the most fun of all the primaries so fun.

11. We've been working SC for quite a while
I've been writing letters to SC Dems. for quite a while. We have a caravan going to SC this weekend to do door to door campaigning. It's a tough state. I used to live there, and I don't think it matters who wins the Dem monination, I really doubt any of them could win SC, even Edwards. Most of the folks there have only one voint of view...abolish Roe v Wade..period. They care about other things, but not nearly as much.

9. I thought he had
organizations in 27 states, and further that SC was one of them.

I'm reserving judgment on Dean's viability until the Feb 7 and 10 states. There's a significant restructuring going on in the Dean camp. He's managed several firsts in politics, and his decision to win with the latter primaries, if successful, may be another one.

15. Check out his donations!
Now that the media is retracting the "Scream" fiasco, well....we shall see what we shall see. If the Dr. can take the heat, we're all staying in the kitchen with him....

16. Dean does not need the south
Dean does not need any states at all. Dean needs no votes. Dean is all about passion, don't you see?
