Let It Bring The Revolution
Andrew G Gatto
On Monday, Al Gore is slated to give a speech that is being described as a statement of clear and direct opposition to George W. Bush and his administration.
In my anticipation to hear his speech, I cannot help but to wonder and worry whether I will be disappointed when it is all said in done. For, time and time again, I have watched my respected Dems escalate a line of thought, pushing and shoving upward; but only to reach a ceiling of discourse that is far lower than it is prudent to the severity of this great travesty on our nation. It is as if no one is willing to cross the line once and for all. It is as if no one whose voice is “worthy” to the ears of his or her fellow statesmen is willing to clearly state the pure voice of the constituency.
The time for Dems to utilize punditry and speculation has long passed us. Now it is time to utilize direct accusation and even more direct opposition. Now is a time for words of revolution. Now is a time for stern and unapologetic measures to ensure the rebirth of our nation’s quest for pure liberty, a perilous journey that has all but ceased in since the President had chosen to revisit the policies and practice of Fascism.
I am hopeful that Mr. Gore, a man who I had once misjudged, but now regard as one of the greatest minds in contemporary history, is in tune with the urgency of the American situation.
My hope is that Mr. Gore transcends the implications of a traditional speech. I pray that he reads a manifesto. I pray he makes a direct and clear statement of revolt.
When he closes, I want to be embodied with such solidarity with his words that I would break with my party should they choose to downplay their vemom in order to descend again below that worn and horrid ceiling.
It is my firm belief that we, the constituents, the every-day people are ready. Further, I believe that many like myself are so weary of the absence of such a bold maneuver from those who we rely upon to prevent us from falling victim to the evil and corruption of powerful; yet imprudent institutions.
And so, Mr. Gore, if by chance you are to stumble upon this little note, I hope you know that many if not most of your Democrats are behind you. We are ready and we are eager. Let it be a manifesto, Mr. Gore. Let it bring the revolution.
