Just Before Lunch Today At The Alito Hearing - Durbin Asked For....
time to rebut something that was said about him by another Senator. Does anybody know what this is all about?

1. Coburn said that in the 1980's Durbin was pro-life/anti abortion
while Durbin was no longer in the room.

Coburn said it in defense to Alito as if to say - see - people do change their mind.
All I kept thinking was how many times Coburn called Kerry a flip-flopper - grrr.

It was a low blow - watching the repeats on cspan to see what ever came of that.

3. He did reply, and noted that he has stood for election many times
subsequently and that his constituents know precisely where he stands on the issue. He took the high road, and made Coburn look like a petulant ass.

2. Yea but I don't remember the details.
I think it was Sen Coburn who said "I wish Sen Durbin was still here because I wanted to hassel him about...and I don't recall even if he said what it was about. When Durbin came back, Coburn was out, and Arlan asked that he wait until they were both there.

I can tell you it didn't sound like any big deal when I heard it. A little sparing is all.
