A CNN pundit compared Dean to Hitler after Iowa
"Of course, he's not as evil as Hitler" were his exact words.

The people on CNN looked on with straight faces, as if the guy made a legitimate point, while playing footage of Dean smiling and having a blast firing up his supporters, and questioning his temperament.

And people are trying to say the media had no impact on this race.

Ridiculous.

3. So you don't think the media has any impact on what voters think?
You honestly think with all the undecided voters, that constant bashing by the media of one candidate had no impact?

6. It's just an example of how crap the 24 news channels have become
When a guy can compare a candidate with Hitler and have no one he's talking to so much as raise an eyebrow, I think it's pretty bad.

2. gee, now you get it
and so many people thought we were just whining when we complained that the media was ignoring kucinich except when they felt it was necessary to ridicule him.

yet we were told it was kucinich's fault not the media. join the club. democracy is dead, has been since 12/12/2000, and no gameshow election is going to bring it back.

7. No, the Democratic Party is Dead.
Robert Reich said so. Democracy is alive and well with the Greens. Come join us. Hopefully the Democratic Party will too...someday.

22. hey I went Green in 2k, and DK was about my last hope for the Dems.
But in all honesty, how are the Greens going to do anything in this environment. If the media will destroy establishment candidates, what would they do to the Greens. Or are the Greens going to get 100 million plus people to vote for them without any media attention?

5. Well that's pretty mild compared
to what they call him here. The enemies of democracy lurk in many forms the most insidious are those who wrap themselves in the flag and quote jingoistic phrases while undermining the very freedoms and liberties they espouse.

8. see, it's all in HOW you compare someone to Hitler (extreme sarcasm)
MoveOn caught flack because they made a side-by-side comparison.

But apparently it's okay if you make an indirect comparison - say "Dean's not as evil as Hitler", or "Kerry isn't as short as Hitler", or "Kucinich isn't as pro-war as Hitler"

9. Outrageous. Dean doesn't have a moustache!
Just kidding!!! :7

What on earth was the context for that comparison? Populism?

Not slamming Dean...he's okay by me.

11. Pundits are stupid. They even declared Kerry's candidacy dead for months.
You have to pull through, anyway. Real deals pull through.

15. It allowed him to escape the media's microscope
And his campaign positioned itself to take advantage of people who got turned off to Dean.

It was a good strategy.

17. Hi Killbot
I was talking to a group of student teachers over the weekend. Many of them sounded like Rush Clones. It is all they are exposed to. I have no idea how we beat the system.

20. Dean is the "Diet-Coke" of evil to Hitlers "Classic Coke" evil formula
He didn't say Dean wasn't evil, just "not as evil" as Hitler.

19. So did Chris Matthews on MSNBC
I was flipping through and stumbled on Hardball just as Tweety started in with his, "I was expecting him to yell, 'and Poland! and Czechoslovakia!'" And there was a GOP yes-man right there to say, "uh huh, yep, just like Hitler."

Fuck the newsmedia. They have no soul.
