Try to think bigger. A country with no nukes. A country that disavows offensive military action, cuts its own military budget by 90%, and reconfigures it into a true defensive posture. A country that uses all that saved money to help its own people, and to diversify and re-tool its economy toward sustainable living. A country with a highly talented diplomatic corps whose goals are peace and justice at home and abroad. A country that denies personhood to corporations, dismantles corporations when necessary, and prevents US-based global corporate predators from exploiting others. A country that apologizes to Iran for destroying its democracy in 1953, and offers it a helping hand (instead of nuking it). A country which reforms and reduces its prison system, and uses the $25,000 a year that is now spent on jailing non-violent offenders to give them the opportunity of new lives. A country that ends its failed "war on drugs." A country in which medicine becomes, once again, an act of mercy--and not a hogfest. A country that aims at it being unnecessary to own a handgun to protect yourself. A just country, in which street crime has become obsolete. A country in which education, learning, creativity and ingenuity are the country's top priority. A country that has lively political debates and discussions, along a wide political spectrum, broadcast on our public airwaves as the only programming for six weeks prior to every election. A country in which private money is banished from political campaigns. A country in which everyone has a chance. A country in which every human brain and soul is considered precious and priceless. A good country. A real democracy.
That is a "great" scenario, which we could bring about, once we restore our right to vote--by banishing Bushite electronic voting companies, with their "TRADE SECRET," PROPRIETARY programming code, and virtually no audit/recount controls, from our election system, and demanding transparent elections.
Bush ass-kisser John McCain being "president" of a broken, hurting, disgraced, looted America is not "great." It is merely apt.
