19. Because in the real world, she's very popular.
This forum is not reflective of the country. Democrats love Hillary. And she is admired by most others.

And I'm not saying that she should run for President.

21. Ummm...
Elizabeth is a nice person ... but frankly, she has no public accomplishments. In fact, same goes for Laura.

As for being named newsmaker of 2005... that is because of being diagnosed with cancer. So, it wasn't something she did, but instead, something that she was faced with and because her husband was the VP nominee.. it created news. In that case, I know a woman who has faced and overcome everything from cancer to losing all her family members in one day and being in one of the WTC on 9/11, besides being a highly accomplished lawyer... yet she is not on any such list of most admired women, unfortunately.

40. I C
I guess I'm befuddled about accomplishments. Maggie Thatcher hasn't been in office for a good decade or so.

I believe Elizabeth's public announcements of cancer did encouraged more women to obtain mamograms, perhaps saving more lives, than she has accomplished far more than some of the women on that list.

Elizabeth and John together started the first political, yet "homey" podcasts, which have been lauded by National Journal, Hotline, WaPo, etc.

17. DU should take note of this poll.
Although those that despise HRC here at DU are the most vociferous, this poll indicates the support HRC has around the country, the same support ignored or vilified by those here bent on her annihilation. It is purposeful blind ignorance to ignore or dismiss HRC's popularity regardless of one's personal regard for her. She is a force to be reckoned with.

18. Hillary is not a TV personality, which is on what this poll is based on
This is a poll based on fame, on the public image of the personalities that the poll is trying to rank.

The more people are made aware of how Hillary really is, and believe me we will spare no effort in doing precisely that, the least likely are they to succumb to the aura of fame and judge her on her dismal support of progressive causes.

34. I am merely stating a fact that you refuse to recognize!
None of the people I know that are peace activists, and I mean none of them, will support a prowar candidate. They will just as quickly demonstrate against a Democratic President that continues to wage war as they did against Bush.

As to those of us in the political trenches, I know many Democrats that voted for Kerry that will not support Hillary if she runs for President, and they are not even leftists!

But I believe a peace activist replied to you and said she'd support Hillary.

Name one Democratic president who wasn't prowar?

Wilson. Roosevelt. Kennedy. Johnson. Carter. Clinton.

You may perceive yourselves to be on moral high ground, but your side always losses where it matters - at the polls.

43. I'm not surprised at all.
Not here on DU because there's an imbalance of HRC haters who vociferously berate her at every opportunity.

She's an easy target for them because she's a strong woman who might run for presidential nominee in the Democratic primaries. Somehow this threatens the "peace movement."

As an aside, I have to laugh at the term "peace movement" when it applies to the Hillary bashers here on DU because they have a very militant and strident way of ripping her to shreds whenever her name is mentioned. Doesn't sound like peace to me. Not the definition of peace that I know.

Actually, it's an irrational hate.

Not true on the outside though. Your normal, everyday American probably hasn't thought much about who they want for president. Hillary probably sounds interesting to some of them.

My view is just "why not wait and let our system of selection take care of it." The people will speak. They will speak here too; again, and again, and again, and again, and---again.

Whatever the outcome, the folks here at DU are just going to have to live with it.

48. Hillary cannot win..
She is hated by the right and the far left. Actually, I'm not even that far left and I can't stand her.

She is rethuglican lite and it makes me sick to think people still consider her electable. That is the repubs dream. They know she's unelectable. The ONLY reason she is even still being considered is because people continue to throw her name out there. I sometimes wonder if it isn't the Republicans throwing her name out there every chance they get. It muddies the water. If her name wasn't being thrown around on a daily basis maybe we could come up with a VIABLE and ELECTABLE Democrat.

I also think the the whole "first woman president" thing is getting in the way with Hillary. Frankly, who the hell cares whether we have a woman or man in office as long as we get SOMEONE in there that can begin to turn this mess around. I am a woman and I would love to see the woman as president barrier broken but NOT with Hillary.

Someone on Meet The Press this morning said that the Democrats seem to enjoy losing these days or something to that effect. With Hillary speculated on DAILY on this board and in political forums all over the place I'm beginning to believe that is a very accurate statement.

Has anyone paid attention to the polling results re: her? Even in her own party she can't get a majority in MOST polls.

I realize she is "admired" but that is NOT the same as being electable.
