Edited on Sat Dec-31-05 06:24 AM by patrioticliberal
(Note on Sundays Guzman is a real estate person. No friggin clue what Queer Channel is. Progressive News Hour will have CNN news on it. BLECH!)

NEW SCHEDULE AS OF JANUARY 2nd, 2006
http://www.quakeradio.com/pages/programming.html

2A – 4A The Mark Riley Show

Mark Riley has been on New York's WLIB for more than 30 years and has interviewed such high-profile individuals as President Bill Clinton, President Nelson Mandela, Jean Bertrand Aristide, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Lena Horne, & Spike Lee to name a few. In addition to radio, Riley is a TV political analyst with bi-weekly appearances on the “Road to City Hall” on New York 1 News; commentary on BET, CNN, CBS Early Show, MSNBC, & BBC Radio.

4A – 6A The Rachel Maddow Show

Rachel Maddow previously guest-hosted on the “The Al Franken Show,” heard weekly 12-3pm EST and continues her night job as contributor to MSNBC’s “The Situation with Tucker Carlson.”

Maddow has a Doctorate in Politics from Oxford University and a degree in Public Policy from Stanford. She was the first openly gay American to win a Rhodes Scholarship. Her background is in commercial radio (WRSI, WRNX) and political activism. Prior to launching "The Rachel Maddow Show," Rachel co-hosted Air America's "Unfiltered" with Chuck D and Lizz Winstead.

6A – 7A Progressive News Hour with John Scott

There are many places to hear news, but only ONE that looks at the world from OUR eyes. This is it.
San Francisco news, environmental updates, progressive opinion, Quake-approved business news, and commentary on the things that make San Francisco the epicenter of all that's good in the world. You'll also hear a "best-of" Will and Willie segment too! John Scott doesn't just read news; he tells stories. (Think Paul Harvey for our generation!)
The Progressive News Hour, leading up to Keepin' it Real with Will and Willie, on 960 The Quake!

7A – 10A Keepin' it Real with Will and Willie

San Francisco's most well known, best dressed and most dynamic political figure is former Mayor Willie Brown. His teaming up with two San Francisco fixtures: political comic Will Durst and popular radio host and producer Paul Wells, creates a unique program about San Francisco and the surrounding communities from three people uniquely qualified to offer insight, perspective and understanding about how San Franciscans work, think, and react to the issues and events of the day. “Keeping It Real with Will and Willie” will address the environment, housing, transportation, homeless issues, issues of the San Francisco Gay community and more. It’s about San Francisco for people who live here, work here and invest their business and entertainment dollars here. The show will be under the direction of Paul Wells who will serve as both executive producer and on air "traffic cop."

10A – 1P The Al Franken Show

This is the show that takes the fight against the conservatives to the airwaves! Al delivers daily irreverent commentary, comedy and interviews. Above all, the show will deliver the truth, in what Al calls the Zero Spin Zone.

Al Franken is a star in several mediums, having won five Emmy and two Grammy awards and he’s written four New York Times bestsellers. He also helped create a little television show called Saturday Night Live.

1P – 4P The Ed Schultz Show

“Big Ed” has won Marconi, Peabody and The Eric Sevareid Awards. All this from a former conservative who became a liberal (“but not a wacko liberal”) because “…I basically got out in the world…”

Ed Schultz has delivered 20 shares on KFGO/Fargo for the past 15 years. He considers himself “…a gun-toting, meat-eating lefty.”

4P – 8P The Randi Rhodes Show

Randi’s legendary South Florida talk show (WIOD/Miami and WJNO/West Palm) is the PMD anchor for KPOJ. The program features commentary, interviews, call-ins and Randi’s trademark candor.

Randi is one of the first female political talk show hosts in the country. She started her radio career in Seminole, Texas and honed her skills in Milwaukee, Dallas and New York. Surprising fact: Randi was voted “Most Outstanding Woman” in the US Air Force in 1979.

8p - 10p The Majority Report

Janeane Garofalo and Sam Seder take an admittedly jaundiced look at the day’s news, newsmakers and the media. This show will introduce younger voices and opinions into the political mix.

Janeane is an actress and comedienne in addition to being an activist with her own radio show. Sam directed Comedy Central’s I’m With Busey and is a major Garofalo sycophant.

10p - 1a Mike Malloy

Mike Malloy came to talk radio by accident. Writing for CNN in 1987, a friend at an Atlanta radio station told him there was an opening for a talk show host on the weekends. Malloy gave it a try and found a home. His radio experience includes WSB-AM in Atlanta, and WLS-AM in Chicago. Most recently, Mike's nationally-syndicated program could be heard weeknights on both the i.e. America Radio and Sirius Satellite networks.

His educational background focused on English and Political Science, and included study at N.C. State University in Raleigh, the University of Toledo in Ohio, Georgia State University in Atlanta, and Jacksonville University in Florida.

In addition to writing for CNN (1984-87) and CNN-International (2000), his professional experience included newspaper columnist and editor, writer, rock concert producer and actor.

It is not difficult to pigeon-hole Malloy politically. Generally speaking, he is a traditional Democrat working to return the Democratic Party to its historic liberal roots.

Mike is the father of five grown children, one new baby girl born July 22, and five grandchildren.

4. On an AAR affiliate????
Edited on Sat Dec-31-05 08:19 AM by rpannier
That's bizarre. Not that leftists are not interested in real estate and the like. But, I doubt it ranks high on many lists. I used to live in Walnut Creek and maybe it draws the Contra Costa crowd on weekends.
One quick question: Who are Will and Willie?

13. Here Is Queer Channel Info - Don't Be Frightened
http://www.queerchannelradio.com/pages/1/index.htm

It's a hour sometimes two hour show for gays, by gays. Nothing to freak out about, especially in San Francisco.

Weekend programming on radio is generally very weak in listener numbers and a good time to put what's called "paid programming" on (lawyers, real estate, sports) I know it sounds crazy, but even Clear Channel has to make some money on low rated stations. (I'm assuming KQKE doesn't have huge numbers) Same thing goes for overnights - nobody listening, nobody cares.

You need to calm down - you're in one of the better radio markets in the country. Pacific is in San Francisco - count your lucky stars.

Your queer channel post comes off as....icky republican

7. Will and Willie
Will Durst is a local comedian with a liberal bent to his politics. Not sure how well recognized he might be nationally. Willie is the former mayor. With this and the Progressive News Hour with John Scott (featuring Quake-approved business news - WTF does that mean) it seems they want to focus more on the Bay Area.

But to lose 1 hour of Laura on Saturday and her entire show on Sunday, plus the "Kyle Jayson" and "On The Real" being dumped for whatever the hell this other stuff is - this is really unfortunate. Thank goodness for XM and streaming.

11. Stephanie sounds like she's on ....
crack everytime i hear her and her side kick. She's not funny, and she's incoherent.

Why won't AAR put on geninely intelligent and talented progressives? why do they have people who just rant incoherently?

I just don't understand it.

As an example of the quality and style, I'll simply refer to Thom Hartmann, Laura Flanders as the example I really wish AAR would provide MORE of of, rather than less.
