"Bush shakes up Pentagon's "Doomsday" emergency plans"
Was the Top Story in the news when I signed onto Netscape.com this morning; but it was gone when I went back on the internet right after lunch...In doing a google check, I found: "Pentagon shakes up Emergency Hierarchy." This is an article which appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle on Friday, which is the same article. As I am so inept at transferring to Democratic Underground, I'm asking for your expertise in locating this article, as I think it would be a very interesting thread for this forum. Thanks for your help.

I think it can be found at: www.sfgate.com :hi: :dem:

3. Is this possibly another step toward Bush's Dictatorship dream?
It's scaring the wits out of me for Bush to do all this without following routine procedures. :scared: Is he insane?

6. Another recess executive order
With the stroke of a pen the military has been demoted and Intel promoted in the Pentagon.

7. just the fact that Bush saw a need to actually do this speaks volumes . .
about his view of the world . . . he (or, more likely, Cheney) apparently believes that the possibilities of invoking succession is great enough to invest time and energy into changing the order, and at a lower level than most assume would likely ever be needed . . . and changing it not tomorrow, but NOW . . .

makes you wonder what his employers have in mind for, say, the next three months or so . . .

10. Is this possibly a CYA tactic re: illegal wiretaps or is it more serious?
This really is scary that he can change a line of succession in the Pentagon and that he felt the need to do so right now.

8. The first article about this appeared here
Edited on Sat Dec-31-05 04:47 PM by windbreeze
http://www.angolapress-angop.ao/noticia-e.asp?ID=403616

at 8:49 pm the 29th, their time...but I believe Angola would be about 12 hours ahead of us...(which means it was 8:49 am our time)......and then AP picked it up, and it appeared on yahoo...at about 11 am, on the 29th....BUT...* signed this exec order the week before, (as the article says) during the holiday....when someone is being that sneaky...we damned well better be concerned, because something is up...this bunch is creating cement boots for all of us...all they have to do now, is throw us off the bridge...and some of those exec. orders * is taking the time to write, deserve much more attention than they are receiving...

It seems they want the military to know their place...and that they better not get the idea that they are going to be given the power to take over if something untoward happens. Why are they so afraid of the military? and have the top guys in the Military realized they swore an oath to uphold the constitution, and to protect this Democracy...not loyalty to any man??? What happens when those factions end up in a clash...?? I believe WE, the American people, are the target...and the actual terrorists are our own gov't...too much is pointing in that direction...how on earth are we going to stop them? We need to take our country back..soon..imo, we have less time than we think...
