Bush Adm. Eerily Quiet After Iraq Elections
went to Religious Majority?

I just read an article in the Guardian this morning that stated that the adm. has gone quiet since the elections. Now that I think about it I haven't heard much in the last few days.

They were making such a big deal about it during the Iraqi speeches. What a wonderful victory for Democracy! And on and on and on. Now - nothing.

I think there is a very real fear that Iraq and Iran may join forces. And Iran spouting all of that anti Israeli stuff. And the Kurds will just go off on their own.

What a mess.

1. Iraqis voted, purple fingers, end of story.
Quit looking at Iraq until the administration tells you to look again. Or do you want the terrorists to win?

3. Iraq really seems to be back in the news
This morning there was a big todo over a main oil refinery shutting down because the trucks are afraid to transport the oil. Too dangerous.

Plus all of the demonstrations in the streets.

Plus the renewal of Western kidnappings and killings.

Plus more car bombs. And that whole family that was ececuted.

14. I think I read here earlier that Chalabi
has taken over the administration of the oil business there. (Probably in safekeeping for Cheney).

Does anyone else invision militias of radical Islamists storming the oil ministry gates?

6. If there really was an al Ciada
you would think they would attack when Bush goes on vacation. The country is totally defenseless during these times.

9. But Homeland Security is Really Trying to Get Itself Together
That was yesterday.

Makes me feel really secure. That Katrina thing really blew me out of the water.

One thing for sure. If a disaster is coming be able to take care of yourself and your family. Because the govt. sure isn't going to help.

5. from the article
I loved a phrase, which I saw also on Keith Olbermann--"Bush's annus horribilis." I'm sure it means horrible year but it sounds so . . . otherwise.

11. They're no longer congratulating themselves
for good reason, since the formation of a viable coalition government will likely be impossible. The Kurds have already made it clear that they intend to govern the oil fields of the north unilaterally, the Shias are talking openly of a theocratic state (under Iranian influence) and the Sunnis are plotting their next moves in the imminent civil war. Sadly, the US military will be an even easier scapegoat target as things degenerate even further. SG

I won't be. I can't stand to look at the man. I would rather hear Scott McClellan. And I think he is a mess.

15. I don't think so.
I think they will come back and try to shift focus really fast.

I'm not sure what they have left to shift to. But it will be something. All the other ideas have fallen flat - new tax ideas, new space program, new social security plan - nothing is taking off at all.

And this spying stuff will be devastating. Can't say it couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of crooks.

18. Not sure about the "spying stuff" Anne Coulter says
(paraphrased)"This wire-tapping controversy has really been a great ratings boost for the president. It's lured the democrats out of their rat holes and made them take a position on terrorism. People are seeing they can't trust the democrats on national security." I can't tell you if this is having a negative impact on his ratings or not, frankly. This controversy is being totally misrepresented by most of the media for the benefit of shrub.

She will be out of a job if this adm. goes down in flames. Which it looks like it might do.

23. Doncha think Annie has just about run out of material?
How much more of Boney Maroney can the people take? Did you know she was booed off the podium at a recent speaking engagement at the University of Connecticut? Her home state, heh, heh. Not that she cares.

17. Their list of "turning points" in Iraq is *almost* comical.
Edited on Fri Dec-30-05 10:53 AM by mwb970
The toppling of the statue, the killing of Saddam's sons, the capture of Saddam, each of the various elections, the "transfer of sovereignty", the creation of a "constitution", Saddam's "trial" - each of these was ballyhooed as a crucial turning point, each turned out to be a mere blip as Iraq descends further and further toward civil war and Iranian theocracy.

This latest election seems to have been even less of a "turning point" than the others, hence the silence from the White House. I assume the reworked constitution will be the next one, if they even get that far.
