The U.S. saves Baby Noor, whilst bombing healthy babies by the scores
Here we go propaganda beyond the pale; U.S. saves Iraqi baby Noor with spina bifida. The hypocracy here is astounding, how many healthy Iraqi babies have been bombed to their deaths by the U.S.? CNN was at full propaganda mode today spouting all the acolades of a humanitarian mission save a deformed at birth baby, ignoring the deaths of thousands of infants by U.S. bombardament from the air. It's ludicrus to tout this, we are saturated by friendly pro war pieces like this daily, all bullshit in it's aim, which is to change the face of the occupation into a warm fuzzy humanitarian mission, cut me a freaking break, hello, how many healthy babies have we killed only to save one with a birth defect?

1. They have done this periodically since the invasion. Remember
the little boy with his forearms blown off? He just went home so we needed another poster child.

I guess the spina bifida bunch couldn't find an American child to provide pro bono teatment.

3. It reminds me of the scene in Apocalypse Now
When they stop the Vietnamese boat over Willard's objections and wind up shooting the girl onboard when she lunges for a basket, which turns out to be nothing but her puppy. Then they want to take her for medical help.

CHEF
"She's hurt, she's bleeding."

CHIEF
"Bring her onboard."

WILLARD
"What are you talking about ?"

CHIEF
"We're taking here to some friendlies, captain.
She's wounded, she's not dead."

WILLARD
"Get off there Chef."

(Willard shoots the wounded girl)

CHEF
"Fuck it."

WILLARD
"I told you not to stop. Now let's go."

WILLARD (voice over)

"It was the way we had over here of living with ourselves.
We'd cut them in half with a machine gun and give them a
band-aid. It was a lie, and the more I saw of them, the more
I hated lies. Those boys were never going to look at me
the same way again."

4. The television has been tuned...
to cable-news the last few days. I have been disgusted by what I hear through the walls. After being free of the crap for a while...the voices astound me. It is so disturbing to think of a time when I could sit down and watch and listen. I wonder how much phoney historical facts are buried in my brain. This story, with the insurgent accused uncle, and the white phospherous toting compassionate military is over the top....Terry Schiavo, Jessica Lynch, Pat Tillman and now Baby Noor. How sad.

Im sorry, I will not call u.s. service men and women baby killers. The war is wrong but the men and women serving this nation still deserve the repect the earn everyday. Despite my non support of Bush i still support the troops mission to defeat the enemy in iraq. Yes, we were wrong to go there but i have to agree that now we need to finish what we started and as much as i hate to admit it..a democracy in the middle east is a good thing..even past dem presidents wished for that. I just cant find anything wrong with freedom and that is what the people in iraq did not have under saddam. Now they do..i credit the military for that not our president.

I've read your other 3 posts...and you do not appear to align yourself with ANY democratic principles... you have obivously bought into the Republican talking-points, as that is all that comes from your fingertips. It would be nice if you would read...and think...before you post...as your replys have little to do with the OP.

10. I can't help but wonder
Why they waste their time here

It's not like anyone is going to listen very hard or very long

Maybe they have a death wish

Kind of like an Islamic suicide bomber?

One never knows

But you are right --its fun in perverse way to toy with them--- like a cat does with a mouse.

11. Am I the only one who thinks this is a good thing?
Edited on Fri Dec-30-05 10:53 AM by youngred
Look, we may hate the war, and the occupation and everything Bush does, but that doesn't mean that feel-good stories like this aren't going to help the US and our image abroad at a time when we need it most. Yes we're killing children and civilians by the score and that needs to be addressed, but saving lives is a good story for us to run.

Shouldn't saving lives be celebrated, especially during times of war?

12. Empathy for an Illegal war
The world knows propaganda, and this is what this is.

Many thousands of innoscents have been killed for nothing.

To justify it as the casualties of war, when the war is illegal is absurd.

The U.S. is a mass murderer for oil, nothing less.

And they won't even get the oil, Iran will have it.

Way to go bushco.
