Is wishing you guys Merry Christmas on Christmas Eve
Politically Incorrect and Religiously Correct? Or is it the other way around?

6. Here's a clue
The reason it is offensive is what it represents.

Oh, it's dressed in carols and jingle bells and Santa Claus, but the basis of "Merry Christmas" has a religious connotation. For those who don't believe in your carpenter baby, it IS offensive.

To make any pressure on someone to say "Merry Christmas" is a RELIGIOUS pressure and call me scrooge if you want, but the First Amendment wall of separation between church and state doesn't come down for a few days in December.

20. Let's see...
We supposedly believe in a wall of separation between Church and State. This is a political board, so I think it would be kinda easy TO PRACTICE WHAT WE PREACH!

However, we see that some people here obviously don't believe what they preach and yes I mean PREACH.

Worship the carpenter baby...at home.

This is a horrible example of walking the walk...

8. Merry Xmas or Happy Holidays.
It doesn't make any difference to me. I have been out shopping today and have been wished Happy Holdays and Merry Xmas by store clerks. I could care less and I am an atheist and I just celebrate the holiday spirit of Xmas and the gift giving.

12. Wishing people a happy or merry anything just shows decency and
humanity.

I wish the same for you and yours.

13. Remove heart from sleeve and enjoy our community
Don't take offense when I wish you happy holidays, and I won't take offense at intrusive religion. My wish is just all-encompassing joy, whereas yours is tainted with proselytizing. Still, Christmas is so celebrated by so many that it hasn't the religious flavor that most hard-core evangelists would like; it's a tradition shared by most of us in the West.

There's no war on Christmas; there's a resistance to having our faces crushed into the dirt and forced to acknowledge some wacky cosmic guess at every turn, especially in a time of warmth and comfort.

I've never had a problem with being wished Merry Christmas, but those who demand that their supernatural assumption be given undeniable and unchecked sway are tiresome.

Wishing it is pretty neutral; expecting some sort of affirmation for standing up for divisiveness in a pluralist society is anti-social. Wasting other people's psychic energy at what should be a time of relaxation and group joy is just subversive. If anyone's thumped on you for wishing your chosen greeting on your private time when not working for the government, they're thin-skinned. If you have a problem with others not wanting their warm and snuggly time of the year intruded upon by another constant reminder of the rapaciousness of a world-conquering and domineering belief system, then you need some coaching in the elemental concept of empathy and coexistence.

Merry Christmas.

16. My best wishes are sincere, but no one picked up...
...on my using "guys" to represent all people. That word used to mean males only once upon a time, and using male terms to cover all people has frequently been a hot button issue. I was playing with words AND wishing everyone well AND ridiculing the Right, because they object so much to the Left wanting to have "politically correct" language, like a gender neutral God, but now they are the ones all bent out of shape by "religiously incorrect" language, that doesn't put Christ first. Anyway...

Holi Happydays everyone.

I travel a lot in the Muslim world and people there also wish me happy Eid as well as Merry Christmas even if they are not Christian and they know that I am not Muslim. They're just being nice.

The same for Merry Christmas.
