Is it realistic to hope to win both houses in '06?
Edited on Mon Dec-19-05 04:48 PM by In_Transit
Just wondering if it was even possible, and if so, realistic to hope for, especially in light of recent events
If so we could break up most of this bull shit.

3. The house looks like a bigger mountain than the senate.

7. i would think the opposite is true
Everyone in the House has to run. Only about 1/3 of the Senate is up.

5. Probably not.
It is not, however, completely impossible; just a very long shot. At a minimum, we should be able to cut their margins to the point that we can halt the downward spiral that is the unfettered Repub agenda...

6. Hope I'm not too optimistic - I think we can

Check this out regarding House races: www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/12/18/15115/759

18 GOP-held seats lean to Dems in voter registration. Another 24 are toss-ups. We need 16.

As for the Senate: OH, PA, MO, TN, RI, AZ, & MT are winnable. We need a net gain of 6.

I have been preparing a more detailed analysis tonight or tomorrow.

10. Those facts cheer me up, but like chefgirl said...
it means nothing if voter fraud continues.

9. Voter Fraud
If voter fraud were not an issue, I would feel certain that we would regain the majority in the Senate in '06.

As a previous poster said, the House is a higher mountain to climb, but I do think we would make significant gains there too.

However, in 2000, our right to choose our leaders was ( I fear permanently ) usurped, so I wont be surprised when, even though the little idiot has about a 40% approval rating, what we see is just same old, same old.

11. 109th Congress is split 232 - 202 -1
218 is needed for a majority therefore 16 seats are needed to gain control if there are no independents.

12. If voter fraud wins this one (again) then I'm afraid we're going to
have to take more drastic action. I hope a revolution isn't necessary, but I'm willing to do my part.

17. I highly doubt that a revolution of that kind would be successful.
I read somewhere that most Americans don't believe that voter fraud occurs.Plus there aren't a majority of liberals to overthrow the government. If anything it's more likely that a far-right leader would overthrow the federal government one day.

13. Yes!! but I'll settle for either
I think the House is more in reach, simply because the Senate only has 1/3 ar risk each election.

15. I was thinking the senate would be easier because we only
need 3 or 4 increase.

14. The house is in reach because all members are up for re-election.
Only 1/3 in the Senate. I am seeing a 50/50 Senate and a Democratic House along with the Governorships and state houses.

16. Wouldn't a clean sweep be great?? I can hope can't I ?
I think everybody needs to work toward that goal. Talk about a contract with America. We would have to publicly review the breeched one the repubs had.
