The gauntlet was thrown down today in the press conference.
"I broke the law, and I dare your asses to do anything about it!"

Might I suggest that some level of conflict is thus inevitable, and its best to prepare yourself and your loved ones by exercising all of those rights included in the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution.

1. What,, that old piece of paper?
He only broke the law, in his mind, if he recognizes the Constitution. But in his wild west bubble universe, the only law is whatever he decides it is. Demented, he is.

5. So the Oath of Office he swore *twice*, on the Bible "so help me God"....
... means nothing to him? I would think the Talibangelicals would be all over his sorry tail for that. Or perhaps "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I ... will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States" is nothing more than the "ceremonial deism" that the far right wing are so in love with when it comes to coinage and the Pledge of Allegiance.

2. I didn't hear the speech
but the local radio commentary (which is conservative-because this is Idaho) was defending the president because it was only calls coming and going in and out of the country. I thought they had listened in on regular folks? I still don't like it.

8. Even if it was ONLY calls in and out of the country, he still has no
authority to do that without authorization of the FISA court or approval from Congress.

And what I just heard on the Diane Rhem show was that it started with people somehow connected to someone in or with Al Quada, but then it widened to those who were connected to all those people, and then to those who were connected to them.

An ever widening circle until it becomes pretty random.

4. I wish someone would have asked him specifically,
"Do you support the 4th amendment of the US Constitution?"

9. Its just a GOP lie - international calls only?
This a lie.

The idea that this practice of illegal wiretapping was conducted only on "international calls" is designed to sidestep the issue, and remove the jurisdiction or applicability of current US laws. Oh so its ok to wiretap because the US Constitution doesnt apply to calls made outside of the US!?? Its both untrue and idiotic considering the facts.

With thousands of calls to consider, and the fact there has been no investigation, there is no available proof that only international calls were tapped. Secondly, wiretapping international calls that originate on US phone lines... this (HAHAHA) is still covered by US law. Lastly, its highly likely that human error will have introduced at the very least a signigicant percentage of calls that fall outside of the GOPs highly technical defense.

The senate should stop EVERY piece of legislation until there are hearings on this matter.

right? no terror attacks since 9-11 because our syping has been so super duper. so shut up hippy. :sarcasm:

or maybe because AlQueda used all their sleeper cells that day? if they had ferreted out even 1 more it would have been trumpeted 24/7 on FauxNews leading up to november 04.
