Without Bev Harris and Andy Stephenson and David Allen (Plan Pub 9)
We wouldn't have "Grassroots Activists" out there working STILL in our States for ELECTION REFORM. GOING AGAINST THE DIEBOLD BASTARDS AND THEIR CLONES.

I know the history of the whole thing.......And there's so much BITTERNESS AND ANGER about it.

But, lets not forget that sometimes folks who start movements aren't Saints and that their legacy often leads to actions that are better for humanity than the original intention of the "Leaders."

So Trash Bev Harris...but HONOR Andy and understand about David Allen...and think of the legacy that the original work that Bev/Andy/David did that started a whole movement.

The people who are now working out there for "VERIFIED PAPER BALLOTS/FAIR ELECTIONS WITH OPEN CODE.....are the folks who were listening way back when Bev and David and Andy first came on the scene here on DEMOCRATIC UNDERGOUND!

Please look at the founders...FORGIVE THE FLAWS and Look at what they've Achieved.... All over America there are organizations working for Voter Reform because of the "original attention" by this little band of VERY VOCAL Researchers who were as devasted by "Selection 2000" as I and others were.

I remember when Bev started asking questions here on DU. I didn't have the "computer skills" to help much with that effort...but so many here at that time were whizzes....

Don't let the Bitterness and Rancor over-ride the MOVEMENT....So much GOOD HAS COME! Please don't forget it. PLEASE!!!!!

1. Amen! I need to get back to work on
my own page about election reform. I am hoping there is someone around who wants to head up that category on the new site: http://www.hostdiva.com/liberalchristians/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=116&Itemid=29

2. Our work here in NC comes from those "Activists" I mention....and I HONOR
THEM ALL! THEM ALL!

The bitterness and rancor agaist Bev needs a BREAK! We need to hang together on this. She really opened a door.....and we should just keep at this.....and be UNIFIED..!

At this point, I don't give a shit what she did with the money......Let someone else "bean count" if they want to.

I just know that the original Video of Bev and Andy "On the Road" got so many of us involved that we've kept on with this when most of America could care less. Please......put aside the rancor over the "Originals" and LOOK AT THE LEGACY!!!!

We really need to do this. "Personalities and their failures and flaws" shouldn't overwhelm the WORK and the Involvement! It just shouldn't........:-(

4. In Ohio and NC we are doing our best for Andy.......it's sad so many DU'er
folks don't really understand what it's all about. We have and "Election Forum" where just the "hard core" visit.

Somehow we aren't keeping the "LEGACY" alive. :-(

5. ...
The Legacy is not the personalities, as so many have sucked up too...
The Legacy is that since 2000 Dems have won elections, but our votes were either not counted at all, or were mis-counted, making rep-tiles into winners.

It matters not who DID what. It matters only what WILL happen. To hell with the past, except that it reminds us of the future if we fail. Get over the personlities and the one-up-man-ships: Unite.

Unite to take back your vote. Unite to make sure the root of democracy is no longer poisoned by the sneaky, easily corrupted e-vote.

The vote you save may be your own.

8. Ko...
It does seem odd that every time something big comes along, the seldom seen names return to throw down a carpet of crap. Now, not accusing anyone of anything, I just find the coincidence rather odd.

I am afraid that for some folks the carpet of crap is a big turn-off.

10. It's too late to nominate this thread..
But it deserves to be seen. We are getting down to the wire in so many states. The stakes are high, and there is no time for infighting. We all agree that voter verified paper ballots and open source code will go a long way to make the results more tamper resistant. Our number one priority is to keep states from hurrying into contracts with the bad actors in order to "comply" with HAVA.

14. I ignore the "Bev Worshipers" *and* and the "Bev Bashers"...
Edited on Wed Dec-21-05 09:22 AM by Junkdrawer
I read what she has to say and I evaluate it critically.

I've also noticed that "Bev" becomes an issue only after she makes an announcement harmful to the voting machine companies. Curious that...

17. Thank you.
I'm not the least bit interested in praising or damning personalities.

I'm interested in having votes counted accurately. Because once that is gone, it won't matter which party you think you belong to or support, or who you vote for. There is no more democracy or democratic republic when the vote is compromised.

Andy is dead. I supported him all along, including his own campaign in Seattle. I found much in common with him, and loved his will to take action, and the energy he took to the cause. The best way to honor his memory, imo, is not to engage in bitterness and recriminations over the past. It's to move forward on the issue he spent the last period of his life on. I think it's what he would do.

I'd nominate this if I could.
