No Justice - No Peace.
George W Bush is the new "Tookie" of American politics. He now admits he would do the same thing again, knowing what he knows now. He is guilty of nothing. His good deeds, bringing voting to Iraq, overrides any bad decisions he may have made in the past. But he's not saying that he made bad decisions - only that he used the bad "intelligence" that was given him. So someone else is still to blame.

With all the bribes and scandals that we are now investigating, we cannot give up until the criminal in the White House is brought to justice. You know and I know and the American people know (as Bob Dole was once fond of saying) that George Bush lied intentionally and took us to war because he chose to, not because it was necessary. And look now at the consequences. Not just that the Iraqis are voting today but look at our position in the world and the deaths his decisions have cost. Next, he may write a childrens book but that will not excuse what he has done. There can be no peace until he is brought to justice.

1. beg to differ
only on your analogy-
Tookie may have refused to 'say the words' - but his deeds, especially in trying to tell children NOT to choose gang life, using himself as an example spoke far louder, and more clearly than any empty words.

bush, on the other hand, may mouth the words- just as he says he 'feels our pain'- but all they are are marks on a page, sounds that hang in the air, for a moment, but serve no purpose other than to fool those who only hear 'sound bites' and swallow them as reality.

Executing Tookie, changed nothing- except those of us whose hands are bloodied by doing to him, what we say we are punishing HIM for having done.-

doing wrong, to demonstrate that something is wrong is worse than futile- it is embracing wrong.
mouthing empty words of 'responsibility', is equally worse than futile, because not only has bush DONE a grievious wrong, he continues to do so, by lying to us, and saying 'it is worth it'- which means, he clearly does not value the lives of others- especially those he calls 'them'-

I do agree with you- there will be no peace in this world without justice- and justice involves each one of us-
I can't help but mention the quality of mercy when justice is meeted out- because justice without mercy is cold-

""A country which is secure in its institutions and confident in its laws should not be ashamed of the concept of mercy," he said."
would you believe this was said by SCJ Anthony Kennedy?
