Gen. Clark goes to the Dark Side

Only in my dream last night, but it was too real.

He was so fed up with the inability of the Dems to coalesce around *ANY* message, forget about being able to stick to it...he just had a press conference and said he was joining with the Reps. He said it wasn't even a matter of believing the same things, but just that it was impossible for him to accomplish anything in a party so divided. He apologized for letting down those who believed in him and assured us that he'd still stick to his core beliefs but that now he might actually be able to get something done instead of arguing and infighting and slinking off like a kicked dog at every republican smear tactic.

That sucked. :(

1. Not sure how this could possibly
result in a positive or constructive discussion.

3. It wasn't my intent to
start anything non-productive...honestly, it just bummed me out so bad I needed a little cyberhug. :(

Perhaps I should ask the mods to move to another forum?

10. Thanks...and I'm sure you're right
It was just one of those too-real-wake-up-with-a-knot-in-your-stomach dreams.

11. Thanks Julie. Bad dreams are not reliable sources, sigh. Mods:
I say this should be moved or locked. The original poster was sincere, but there are enough real events in the world that are provocative without having mud thrown around about dreams.

13. Again, sorry
I asked the mods to move/delete also. I wasn't sure where this would be appropriate; clearly this ain't it. :)

16. I'm not at all upset with you. At a different site
your dream would not get used as a hook for an attack. It would have been talked about as a dream that reflects frustration with how Democrats can be sometimes, and a good discussion might have come from it.

12. Actually it could

One way to interpret it is a that it calls for the need for less disiveness on the part of the Democrats. Senator Reid is trying to do this in the Senate. The MSM is pushing the idea that a diversity of opinions is a sign of ineptness - it isn't, it's a sign of intellectual healthiness. We should have real conversations, looking at issues from many sides and many angles. What we NEED though is respect for the discussion.

Consider that the MSM should be addressing what is the Republican plan - as it is the one to be implemented. Note that the press is fine with McCain and Hagel having different opinions than Bush - and they are the party in power. Also consider it may be better for the Democrats to have many ideas on the table and to be discussing them, which they likely are. Remember that Kerry last year said to Bush, you can be absolutely certain and be wrong.

In terms of joining the Republicans, I assume that saying positive things about Michael Moore might preclude that.

This will never happen (and I rarely say "never" anymore, but in this case, I'd bet my house on it...) General Clark is a Democrat down to his bones. It ain't gonna happen. I agree with JNelson6563, this isn't going to make for a constructive dicussion. I say we move on.

4. IMO he's ALWAYS been on the dark side......
He didn't join the repugs because in spite of his lavish praise for them, they wouldn't have him. For him we were the only game in town. Luckily, most Democrats understood that he was an opportunist and he was soundly trounced in the primaries.

19. "Pundits keep spinning Clark phone call"
Edited on Thu Dec-15-05 10:38 AM by Tom Rinaldo
Here is one story detailing parts of the coordinated smear campaign against Clark that Republicans mounted. It covers twists attempted on more than one reported phone call, including the one talked about in the post I am responding to:

"Pundits keep spinning Clark phone call

By Bryan Keefer
September 25, 2003

Despite new information, a number of conservative pundits continue to spin the widely-debunked story of a phone call Democratic presidential hopeful General Wesley Clark says he received shortly after Sept. 11...

5. Not an improbable scenario
I doubt the General would ever go that far, however, he did spend a large part of his adult life as A FOUR STAR GENERAL. And in that position he did not deal with those who could not or would not make decisions. He was the leader of a team and he saw first hand the positive results which come from team work. No doubt he may become frustrated with the job of herding cats but becoming one of "them" is a far worse fate. frist does not herd cats he kills them.
