Republican arrogance on full display today
In a house committee meeting on the Katrina mess. One fine upstanding republican (didn't catch his name) was blathering on about the expertise and credibility of michael brown. And another fine member of the gop browbeating GOV Blanco (D) Louisiana with - the 11-hundred hurricane victims you let die in one day is half the number of our troops who have died in Iraq and that is unacceptable. Blanco calmly replied, Louisiana has lost 52 guardsmen in Iraq and that is unacceptable. Its a marvel to behold the members of the party of responsibility working so hard to avoid any responsibility whatsoever.

1. Here's how it works, the repukes take away any and all government programs
because of their ideology and give any cash in the treasury to the wealthy and when the effect of those actions hurts people, it's their own fault. Prior to this administration, FEMA would have been prepared for a disaster like Katrina when it was far out to sea.

2. No he didn't
Did one of them really say to Blanco that she let 1100 die?

4. Yes he did
I heard it on the radio about two hours ago. Everything was Blanco's fault, michael brown was God's gift to the gulf coast and bush is above any criticism relative to whatever happened after the hurricane. They are well trained.

3. Not to mention that the La. NG left much of its equipment in Iraq
Blanco calmly replied, Louisiana has lost 52 guardsmen in Iraq and that is unacceptable.

the Guard's specialized equipment, about a third of which is halfway around the globe from La., could have been used to save hundreds of lives, but wasn't because King Dumbass** has chosen to treat the world like a brand new GI Joe set -- and THAT is unacceptable.

As for blathering on about the expertise and credibility of michael brown., I'd be surprised if that lasted long enough for the repuke to blow his nose!

5. Interesting comment
I believe it was from the chairman who said, we all are well aware of the shortcomings of FEMA during the hurricane. At least those of us on this committee who are awake.

6. I know
I wrote my conman about doing Katrina oversight, especially on funds bound for the evacuees in our part of Arkansas. He sends me the usual form letter and then adds, in his own handwriting, that the reason it is important to oversee things and investigate is because of the way the DEMOCRATS handled things in the city. I wanted to puke.

8. They are constantly on message
They go to school to ensure no responsibility comes their way. Where in Arkansas are you? I went to high school and the U at Fayetteville way back when. Loved the place then.

7. ...and they'll get away with it because the dems are worthless.
They do not support or back each other up (save a handfull) -even when someone speaks much needed truth. Katrina damage and the restoration of the coast is a natural domestic issue for Dems to champion, yet they do as they do on everything else. Run and hide. I'm fucking sick of this shit.

10. CNN mentioned that the committee consists of Republicans only.
Apparently, Democrats have been asked to boycott since they believe that there should be an independent inquiry into this mess.

11. A democratic congresswoman from Texas
was allowed to address those brought before the committee. She was obviously on the side of humans. She said she thought this meeting was so important that she left another committee which was considering the fate of the Patriot Act which is stripping Americans of their constitutional liberties.

Her bottom line, if the committe has its way, then the next time Americans are hit by Tornadoes or ice storms or earthquakes the rest of will just say, tough, you're on your own. The voice of reason and sanity amidst the privileged and powdered ones.
