Brown leads Hackett in OH-Sen. primary by large margin.
Edited on Mon Dec-12-05 02:01 PM by nickshepDEM
From today's Hotline:

Dem Primary Matchup

W/Lean W/O Lean
Brown 51% 47%
Hackett 22 20
Und/Oth 26 33

Fav/Unfav Fav/Unfav ID
Brown 38%/ 9% 80%
Hackett 13%/6% 52%

Hopefully Hackett can turn this around. With time, money, and media coverage his name id will improve. Hopefully that means a bounce in head to head numbers too.

1. Brown's a fine candidate...
I would rather he had waited to take on Voinovich in '10, and let Hackett run while his political star is still shining (and against an opponent much less popular than Voinovich), but I'll certainly welcome Brown nevertheless.

strategy. If he looses the Primary to Hackett, that could weaken his candidate appeal if he did choose to seek Voinovich's seat. I don't think that poll is an accurate reflection of the Hackett appeal.

3. I agree with that, plus....
I think Hackett's appeal is fairly short-term. By 2010, he won't have the cachet he does now. Brown, on the other hand, is a career politician in Ohio, a household name. His name can stand up for a few years.

13. Agreed...Brown is a wonderful liberal
he'll make a great progressive Senator. I bet Hackett is suffering from running those ads in which left the impression he "liked" Bush....as far as the dems know he does.

9. Hackett should run again against that Nazi bitch
Edited on Tue Dec-13-05 02:29 PM by IndianaGreen
He is moderate enough for that district, while Brown has a long and distinguished record fighting for the workers.

10. I tend to agree with you on this. I like them both, and think both would
win as long as machine fraud gets exposed.

But, damn, Sherrod has been a dependable progressive voice for so long, and it's a shame that anyone wants to kick him to the curb for ANY reason.

11. Voting machine fraud is an albatross hanging around our necks
Democrats and independents that believe in fair elections should all be alarmed at the unreliability of voting methods being used in our country.
