2. They say it comes in threes...
I know my third doesn't mean anything to anyone else, but our most beloved cat died suddenly Thursday night at the age of 5. It just shouldn't have happened. We're devastated and dumbstruck. The holidays suck. I want to throw up. I can't think straight. And my husband's worse. For those of you who don't hate me here (after all I am pretty vicious at times) please keep us in your thoughts.

We have no children. Our pets are our closest family and this one guy was particularly inside our hearts, deeply so. I had to hold him trying desperately to resuscitate him as he died on the way to the emergency clinic. I am crying constantly.

I can't believe how many people and pets have died this week (two pets that I know of personally). We're just sick and empty and dead inside. Suddenly politics matters so little when someone you loved so much isn't here anymore, and there was no warning.

THanks... cat

4. I am truly sorry for your loss ...
... and there is no need to apologize for seeming to put aside, if only momentarily, the greater issues that face us, collectively, as a nation.

I lost my precious Siamese, Alecka, over twenty-five years ago. He'd been a member of the family for over sixteen years. To this day, I cannot think about that time in my life without tears.

Mourning the loss of a beloved pet does not lessen us as human beings; it enriches our understanding of how all life is precious.

7. I'm so sorry for your loss.
I lost one of my all time favorite kitties (I have loved them all, of course) in a similar and devastating way.

And I've lost others.

I had a lovely blue point Siamese companion for 23 years, lived with her longer than any human being.

It is never easy.

Here is a pet loss support web site that was helpful to me and other people I've known:

http://www.petloss.com/

They have a virtual candle ceremony Monday night. I went to it once and it was very healing, to be in virtual space with others going through the same thing.

Take care, you'll be in my thoughts.

14. Thank you both...
And thank you for the link to the site. I will definitely engage in the candle ceremony... My husband might not. The poor man is in denial right now. He knows it. He knows it's a stage of grief. I've had to handle this grief -and- educate him on the stages of grief and what is and isn't okay (i.e. it's all okay except being stuck in one stage for too long).

Anyway, thank you so much. I wish so much I had more than five years with our sweet little boy...

3. Sad and shocking
Pryor has been sick for years, but it still is somewhat mind numbing to hear that he is gone.
And so with Senator MacCarthy. He put honor and truth over politics. Lieberman should have paid more attention to the good senator from Minnnesota.

8. Yes, when I came upon story lines for both of them at the same time
I was shocked.

For a brief moment I thought, well they're going after the liberals now.

McCarthy played somewhat the same role that Dean did in the last election cycle.

Richard Pryor was an amazing comedian.

Maybe that is why there has been a sense of a disturbance in The Force today.

May their wonderful souls rest in blissful peace.

6. One can only wonder ...
... what McCarthy and Pryor are discussing right now, over cocktails in the Pearly Gates Bar & Grill!

Here's to two great Americans who, each in their own way, spoke for a lot of us!
