Feingold : Fierce Defender of our Constituion - He's going to Filibuster

i just posted new article that's titled Feingold says he'll filibuster Patriot Act (Raw Story)

The MORE i see Russ Feingold in action, the MORE I SEE HIM AS OUR NEXT PRESIDENT. Right now, he's my man and i can forgive his Roberts confirmation and bankruptcy vote for now.

here's the salient point:

“I will do everything I can, including a filibuster, to stop this Patriot Act conference report, which does not include adequate safeguards to protect our constitutional freedoms. The version of the Patriot Act that was signed today is a major disappointment. I appreciate that it includes four-year sunsets on three controversial provisions, but merely sunsetting bad law is not adequate. We need to make substantive changes to the law, and without those changes I am confident there will be strong, bipartisan opposition here in the Senate. "

5. Won't this make Repubs invoke the "nuclear option"?

I'm not sure how the mechanics of the situation will play out, but is the nuke option in there if things get to the floor like this?

7. Repugs Nuclear option was for filibustering SCOTUS but this about

the Patriot Act!! So, i think the repugs will not be using that tactic in this case.

Not to try to enact the nuclear option of policy matters. They have a semi-legit. point with the judges in that a Pres. has the right to choose a judge he wants, but there is absolutely no justification for the nuclear option on policy issues.
