Brokeback Mountain
while christian conservatives enjoy their holiday season cheering on george bush as he continues to get our kids aborted in Iraq, they still find something else to whine about. The new cowboy movie Brokeback Mountain involves two men and a relationship. So what's the "christians" response? Of course, its a recruiting film for homosexuals.

Hate people because of their sex life and hate liberals for trying to do away with Christmas while continuing to encourage our commander in chief to get American Soldiers killed trying to kill "ragheads." The training regimen of the well adjusted christian conservative of the not too distant future.

2. Exodus International just gave the movie a lot of free advertising!
That is, despite the fact that they cant handle something like a movie about homosexuals. What idiots.

3. We are inviting friends (gay and straight) to see the movie

and let them make up their own minds. (Gee, what a novel concept!)

5. I didn't want to see "Passion of Christ" so I didn't spend the money
but wasn't that pretty much a big recruiting movie for the fundies? I don't buy the "Left Behind" books (but did read the first one just to see what the hype was about) for the same reason.

I'd like to organize a DVD buy/donate program to put a copy of this movie into every public library we could if it lives up to it's pre-reputation of being a fantastic movie. Maybe we call it the Fred Phelps Memorial Gift program or something.

There are way more of us then there are of them (and those Exodus folks just can't have clients popping wood in the theater, it might mean they ain't really cured after all)

Hatred and Fear are not family values.

11. I work at a large county library...
and we have stocked the book (short story)on the shelves, and will have the movie once released on DVD.
There are two ways we acquire materials (this is how most libraries work):
1.) Automatic pre-ordering based on a book's 'bestseller' or expected besteseller status, and in the case of DVD's, preorders based on a formula that take in gross sales in the first month.

2.) Manual review, which covers the smaller releases and niche materials.

SO, if Brokeback Mountain has a good opening month, it WILL automatically be in the hands of MANY libraries around the country. Whether they put it on the shelves, or whether the fundies raise a fuss is another matter.

7. I sincerely believe that if the Xtian Whackjobs were in total control
in this country today, they'd be gassing gays and those who perform abortions. However, they'd be jumping up and down with glee and yelling "support the troops!!!" who are killing and being killed. What a fucked up bunch. Jesus must be spinning in his tomb.

13. Looks like a barfy chick flick to me. Yuck. But, if Righties wanna kill it
I'll probably buy tickets and drop my daughter and a friend off at the movie and get the brat out my hair for an afternoon. Plus I get the satisfaction of supporting a good cause. If Hollywood want me to watch a gay movie, they need to make a movie about a couple of gay cops (I'm thinking Bruce Willis and Denzel Washington in a sort of Oscar-Felix partnership) who drive around in a big truck and blow up lots of shit while spouting cute one-liners.

BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! "Hey, don't lose your head, punk. Oops, too late"

Now THAT'S a politically correct movie for me!!
