Lowering the bar on Victory

I've gotta love Anne Applebaum. I've taken issue with her many times before (defining Gulag for example) but, in my opinion this takes the cake. She states, in all seriousness that:

"There are wars that end ambivalently -- wars, for example, such as the one we fought in Korea."

Ummmm sorry Anne the Korean War never officially ended. While combat operations ceased the war itself ground to a stalemate. Of course, to achieve that stalemate over 50,000 died.

I'm waiting for the new strategy of reducing terrorism to a mere nuisance level, now that's victory LOL.

When will they realise that redefining victory does not solve the underlying problem. This war cannot be won, you can redefine the word won all you want, but unlike Korea even a stalemate is impossible.
