Did anybody just see the NBC report
with the soldiers speaking out against withdrawal? Saying the media is distorting the reality of what going on over there by only reporting on the negative? And they don't want to come home before the mission is accomplished?

Oh yes, there will also be a major speech on Iraq's progress by the presidnut next Wednesday.

5. That was my first thought too.
Fat chance they would put someone on who would say let's get the hell out of here while we have a prayer of getting home alive.

6. Thank you for reinforcing my belief that not all soldiers in Iraq
are so committed, because I found that story hard to swallow. I think they're listening to too much Rush.

7. NBC is owned

by General Electric, a major defense contractor and war profiteer. Of course it is in their corporate interest for the insanity to continue.

12. People are becoming smart enough to see it for what it is. AND
showing the lengths that the Shrubistas will go to only makes them look desperate.

9. Let the ones stay there that want to stay
If they love Bush that much, that's where they need to be! It would seem to me that their family would mean more to them than fighting for oil.

that report was not coached, scripted,etc...We saw it with the "Talk with the Troops" disaster...

I don't want to sound disrespectful to our soldiers...but I found it very unbelieveable...

14. Let them sign up for an extended term of 5 years in Iraq
with say two weeks a year vacation. And then see how many sign up. Yes there will be some... But not 100,000....

16. This is
the media supporting Bush Administration's agenda again by presenting a one-sided story. It has nothing to do with the troops and everything to do with the media using them as pawns to dupe the public. General Casey has already come out demanding a timetable. We are suppose to believe that none the troops support this position?

Shoddy and transparent attempt to give Bush cover for his fake speech next week.

18. I think soldiers take an oath to the president?
To speak against the war, is to speak against their Commander in Chief?

Then again, maybe not:

19. I have also been seeing some imbeds talking about what the reality
is on the ground. I am sure the hosts never expected their guests to say some of the things they are saying but I'll take their word over a soldier's word any day. What do we really think a soldier would say on camera? Hell, Powell wouldn't even tell the truth on camera. Why do we think anyone else in the military would?

21. I forget if it was this piece, but I saw one soldier who, when asked
about morale, was obviously having a difficult time spewing the canned speech. He interjected "but we're ready to go home" as often as he could. I'm betting if you lined people up and gave them an option of staying or going home, the vast majority would be hopping on the plane.
