(snip)"We want this thing to end, but it's got to be done in a way that stabilizes so that we don't have an al-Qaida controlling the world's oil supply,'' Nelson said in a news conference that also covered oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and the Navy's future in northeast Florida." snip

(snip)

``The one trump card we have up our sleeve that they will not be able to come close to the coast of Florida is the United States military's largest training and testing area in the entire continental United States is the Gulf of Mexico off of Florida. Almost all the gulf off of Florida is restricted air space,'' he said.

to me,his words sound a little like bush supremacy...and world dominion.

1. Protecting Forida and the Gulf states isn't world dominion.
Al-Quida controlling the world's oil supply would be.

9. i agree with you,
except that the way he frames the protection of florida and the gulf states is almost like waving a red flag in front of a bull; a reminder of bush's BRING IT ON...

2. Bill Nelson's politics
are as liberal as one can get in Nebraska and still win statewide election. The calibre of wingnut that the state GOP would prefer to replace Nelson with would not be a good alternative.

4. I agree
It's easy to be true-blue liberal if you are from a dark blue state.

5. Bill Nelson is from Florida. Ben Nelson is from Nebraska.
Both are pretty conservative.

7. Sorry folks - BILL Nelson's from Florida.
I have a love-hate relationship with him - just real mixed feelings. There are times when he really does something good (speaking out with Barbara Boxer against testing of insecticides on low-income children in Jax). But his pro-war stance completely infuriates me. And I think that he voted FOR the Middle-Class Destruction Act (bankrupcty), but then tried to redeem himself by co-sponsoring the amendment to for exemptions for military personnel.

What makes him appear to be a "liberal" is that our other senator is Sideshow Mel.

10. Both Nelsons are DINOS...as are...
Lieberman, Biden, Gephardt, and several more. They all need to be replaced.
