Bush tries to cool tempers over Iraq
The nerve - his people decide to go into "campaign mode" on Iraq, which essentially makes all this happen (Murtha was probably countering what Bush was saying), then he tries to calm everybody down. What an ass.

Bush tries to cool tempers over Iraq By Steve Holland

U.S. President George W. Bush on Sunday all but apologized to a hawkish Democrat who the White House had called a liberal like American moviemaker Michael Moore for demanding an immediate U.S. pullout from Iraq.

:snip:

"Congressman Murtha is a fine man, a good man who served our country with honor and distinction as a Marine in Vietnam and as a U.S. congressman," Bush said.

He did not repeat the White House accusation that Murtha was from the extreme liberal wing of the Democratic Party like Moore, the "Fahrenheit 9/11" filmmaker who is a liberal celebrity loathed by American conservatives.

"I know that the decision to call for an immediate withdrawal of our troops by congressman Murtha was done in a careful and thoughtful way. I disagree with his position," Bush said.

:snip:

Bush, speaking to reporters after talks with Chinese leaders, said no one should question Murtha's patriotism and that it was his right to express his opinion.

"People should feel comfortable expressing their opinions about Iraq," he said.

1. I love it!
And as for Michael Moore.. if he's loathed by American conservatives, good. That means he's doing something right.

I LOVE MICHAEL MOORE!

THIS is EXACTLY the same pattern this evil guy and his group of swifties did to Kerry.

BUT the difference this time is that Murtha is getting the strong support and targetted messaging that people WERE NOT giving Kerry and Max Cleland. THEY (The Democrats) have tightened their resolve over the 'swiftying' of their own. AND they have tightened the message about Iraq.
THEY are getting the MEDIA involved in every single one of them protecting Murtha as opposed to the floundering around (the bush) they did during 04. And Kerry as their leader, who has been injured the most by this smearing "Swiftboating attack" and the lack of organization of this party, has been instrumental in the organization of how this party is handling these attacks now.

Great job Democrats, Kerry, Murtha and all of us on doing this. Let's keep the pressure on, keep the focus on getting out of Iraq and holding this administration accountable, and let's try to stop our own self-destructive infighting.

4. so after launching the attacks he wants people to cool it?
Sorry - it's just like Iraq - you can't tell people to stop once you've attacked them and their counter punches are starting to hurt.

Clown. Big Clown.
