Defense official: Rumsfeld given Iraq withdrawal plan
http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/11/18/iraq.plan/index.html

Given to Rumsfeld by Gen. Casey...starts pulling out brigades after Dec. elections.

I guess those elections will magically stop the attacks which means this administration can then claim victory and start to pullout while spewing rhetoric that the terrorists have been defeated.

And you know what else? Once U.S. troops are removed in large numbers, the press will start losing interest in Iraq. The reporting of bombings will die down as U.S. soldiers will be less and less the targets. That will play into the GOP's hands for the '06 elections.

1. The problem with that is that if you take big chunks out, you either
have to cede control over entire swathes of area, or spread your folks way too thin (they are already paper thin as it is).

Either way, it increases their vulnerability.

2. But what about their big plan?
American "leadership" and "spreading democracy" throughout the world.

3. Looks like the Marines are thinking alike, eh?
Marine Murtha asks for it, and with typical Marine efficiency, Gen. Pace has one of his Army boys run the plans over to Rumsfeld the next day.

4. That's another deception
Edited on Sat Nov-19-05 03:58 AM by Catrina
They've increased the numbers to over 160,000. They will begin withdrawing the extra troops a few thousand at a time until after the 2006 election.

Kerry mentioned this the other day. The Dems have to make this clear and each time they are on television with one of them, they have to ask them why they are not telling the truth. That withdrawing the extra 30,000 sent there for the Constitution and the election, is not a withdrawal and to stop deceiving the American people.

They're planning ahead for the election here ~ more smoke and mirrors, deception and lies.

8. hee-hee-hee... bad timing on Rummy's part. it looks like Murtha influenced
this... it looks like the Democratic Party forced his hand! i love it!

the best part is... we did. we did it. of course, rummy's plan is inadequate, so we have a lot more work to do.

SUPPORT THE TROOPS! BRING THEM HOME!

9. This is good news no matter what
If Bush introduces a plan to withdraw then why is he attacking those who propose exactly the same thing?

The Bush Administration are made up of complete wacko's.
