The Monkey is on MSNBC, now, LIVE
Edited on Sat Nov-19-05 02:34 AM by MADem
He's in Pusan, I think--slurring his words, as has become usual. He must be cranky as hell, given the time difference. The poor troops trapped behind him do not look happy. There are two brothers behind him who aren't playing the game!!!

On edit--he's in OSAN. Shoulda figured he wouldn't go out of his way; the shopping is better there for loverly Laura!

1. they always look forced
like they feel it's their "duty" to support him rather than truly being enthusiastic about him.

That young brother on the right has alternated between resignation
and disgust. He wasn't leaping for joy when he heard chimpy say that the koreans could take more of the load to free up US forces to go to Iraq...didn't seem to thrill him at all.

One of my best friends is a "brother" who was a soldier stationed in Germany. Some of the things he says about Bush would make your ears turn red.

15. It's not impossible that a black is a repug. To assume that they were
coerced is condescending. Soldiers are not idiots, and they come in various political flavors.

17. The look on that kid's face said it all, and it wasn't Hail to the Chief
Edited on Sat Nov-19-05 03:10 AM by MADem
He looked like he was tapped because he was a nice looking lad, squared away uniform, and he was the right shade to round out the backdrop. He did not look thrilled in any way, shape or form!

And on edit: If you think attendance at that little lovefest was OPTIONAL, you gotta rethink that. I've been to those drills, and there's no choice involved. It is coercion of the purest sort. If you are tapped to go, you get your butt there early, because there's usually an inspection ahead of the main event.

6. Iraq was connected to 9/11?
"they brought the fight to us on 9/11"

Why wasn't I informed on this.
If I knew Saddam took down the Twin Towers I might have taken a different position on this whole thing.

What a Jackass.

8. Complete jackass--and he is not even trying to really DELIVER this speech
He is reading it in the same whiny singsong -- not delivering it. Same friken cadence for every sentence. Except of course, when he stumbles over a word, then it screws him up. The twit!!!

11. He keeps forgetting to remind us why he failed to
get Osama for blowing a whole in the ship Cole(?) in Yemen. That was Osama's terrorist act that need to be attended to and Clinton figured bush could blow Afghanistan when he took office. Never a word from bush about that. Bet he knew Saddam did it and was laying in wait for the big one.

"Rapturist reception" is what a foreign announcer said about Bush's speech. Noting all the secrect service agents around our great leader among all those loyal troops. What's wrong with that picture.

9. I've been watching it. CHIMPSTER!!
Monkey Man.

You know, in 1969, I was one of those naive soldiers standing there as a prop for Richard Nixon, who was there to give us a medal. I was so proud, so ignorant.

Three months later, I left for Southeast Asia.

Three years later, I was a McGovern delegate.

Just because a soldier is sitting there doesn't mean he will support this clown in two years. Of course, I never saw Bush, because I wasn't hanging out at dives in Houston getting shitface drunk and hiding from Uncle Sam. POS.

My sense is that the advance team made it CLEAR what was supposed to happen--give me applause, or you all get no liberty this weekend!

... and they serve steak in the mess hall, like you get that when the brass aren't there.
