"Until victory is achieved"
bush says that's how long we'll stay in Iraq. That would be thousands of years from now. Dontcha love it when a gop plan comes together. In 2078 some lunatic religiously insane conservative zealot who hasn't been born yet will say we have to stay the course so that the 250,000 americans who have already died in Iraq did not die in vain.

2. Like we are going to go into that part of the world
and solve their ethnic and border hatreds that have been festering for thousands of years?

3. That definition of "victory" is sooo elusive though....
I think it was karen hughes interviewed by michelle norris on NPR, she was asked "what constitutes success in Iraq?"

Her answer went something like this: (paraphrased)

"We will bring Iraq to victory when we bring the situation to a successful conclusion to the point where we can safely bring home our troops"

:wtf:

8. I've yet to hear...
concrete benchmarks defining what level of success would allow redeployment.

(I like the term "redeployment" I think I'll be using that one from now on)

6. Boss, what say you to the limp-dicks' attacks on Col. Murtha?
Is it not totally disingenuous? Predictable, but way too Rovian. The juxtaposition of our truths and their lies, and considering their low poll numbers, bodes well for us if we can weather a couple of small Rovian storms.

BTW: How is it in Mississippi now? Really? PM me if you must.

Mac

10. When I was a third class petty officer (E-4)
I worked for a Marine Lieutenant Colonel at an Air Squadron in California in the early 70's. He was the best boss I ever had. He kicked my Ass (inspired me) but no one else did. I never had any questions about my job, my mission, my responsibilities and what was expected of me. We worked in Operations and when changes were warranted the Boss ordered rudder alterations, we changed directions, proceeded and succeeded. That's what COL Murtha is suggesting we do. Bottom line, I think conservative republicans are too proud to admit they are wrong. They are speaking before congress tonight supporting bush's policies and yet they don't want him to campaign for them. If they weren't so dangerous I'd pity them.

We are fine and dandy in South Mississippi but 30 miles south of us is another planet. People living in tents, no power or gas. Very sad. Thanks for the post. We all will muddle through.

9. the longer he insists on this 'stay the course' BS....
...the worse it will be for him! People will stop supporting Republicans in '06, Democrats will regain a majority in Congress and it's all downhill from there.......
