Is it still the Economy, stupid? Will America vote w/their pocketbooks?
With unemployment hovering at 5%, Inflation low and gas prices falling again, economists are saying that the economy is good.

How will this affect the way folks vote in 06? Or will disatisfaction with the Iraq war rule the day?

1. In some respects, it is still the economy ...
... as for how GOOD it's going, ask the people who have lost their jobs to outsourcing, who have had to deplete their savings and can now not send a son or daughter to college, law school, or medical school, the people who are struggling to pay for meds for their aged parents ...

The list goes on and on. A GOOD ECONOMY? Maybe if you're Dickwad Cheney, yeah. If you're a middle class American, you're still struggling.

2. There is something wrong with that picture--again
If the economy is so damn good, why does a head of leaf lettuce cost about $1.29-1.49 at the grocery store? Why am I bleeding out of my wallet everytime I buy an apple? I can hardly wait to see how much the bill will be for Thanksgiving dinner this year--and then the gas to drive to Grandma's house. Pfew! I guess that I could always forego it--or take the bus on holiday schedule. Oh, yeah, I gotta remember to turn the heat down to 45 degrees, so I won't burn a hole in my bank acct.

Thanks, energy tsars, economic advisors and mba presidents.

3. These are the kind of reports the repugs will hang their hats on
that don't reflect what's going on in the average household.
