Santorum: "All you get in the news every day is simply the body count."
Finally, in a Veterans Day speech and comments to reporters, Santorum blamed the "drip, drip, drip" of news reports about U.S. military deaths for the Iraq conflict's growing unpopularity. "All you get in the news every day is simply the body count," Santorum told the Philadelphia Inquirer. Major Jeffery Voice, a Special Operations veteran who has recently returned from Iraq and is now supporting Bob Casey's campaign responded, "I'd like to see (Santorum) defend that position to the mother, father or children of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country."

Casey newsletter:

Dear XXX,

Bob unveiled an ethics reform plan Monday in Washington at a restaurant owned by indicted GOP lobbyist and Santorum buddy Jack Abramoff. The plan calls for same-day reporting by lobbyists of their contacts with lawmakers and requires politicians to pay the full cost for the use of private jets.

Casey specifically criticized Santorum's involvement in the K Street Project: an effort, by top Republicans including former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay and Abramoff, to pressure lobbying and special interest groups to hire Republicans. In response, Santorum told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that his involvement in the K Street project was a "good government thing."

And in the latest installment of "Election Year Rick," Santorum told the Beaver County Times this week that "he doesn't believe that intelligent design belongs in the science classroom." This is completely opposite from Santorum's statements in a Washington Times opinion piece where he wrote "...intelligent design is a legitimate scientific theory that should be taught in the classroom."

Fed up with the flip flops and double speak? Join us in holding Rick Santorum fully accountable.

1. Actually Rick is wrong...
We hear about car bombings, and white phosphorus, and Saddam's lawyers being murdered, and IEDs and any number of other things that illustrate what an unholy mess Iraq is. Half the time the body count is just incidental information they throw in at the end.

He is an absolute ass!

3. Little war coverage for Santorums constituents
My western PA newscasts seldom mention the war at all, and they almost never mention the body count. Unless they can dredge up a "Pittsburgh Connection," and then they talk about that death and few others.

And my local stations have never mentioned the thousands and thousands of dead Iraqis.

That's Pennsylvania, Senator Santorum. You know, the state adjacent to the state in which you reside?

2. You know, Ricky, if you're disatisfied with the war reporting...
journalists can start reporting on the IRAQI body count, as well.

4. He's right
We do only get the body count. It's simply "another suicide bombing" in Iraq.

Beyond that, though, if they start talking about more than the body count -- then it's only bad for his side of the argument. He should be grateful that the media is so complacent.

5. Why Rick, has something been forgotton? I have rarely been shown
the streets filled with rubble in Iraqi cities, the hospitals without medicines, interviews with Iraqi citizens who have had loved ones killed, dis-appeared, or tortured, nor visits in the common Iraqi houses without clean water or electricity (except for a few hours a day). Why haven't I seen stories on the 14 US military bases that Halliburton is constructing? Why no stories of life outside the 'Green Zone'? And if there has been so many great things happening there, where are the pictures?
