It would be truly setting the clock back ---- righting all that has been wrong for 8 years.

In a way, in my mind at least, it is the only way to get America back, get things back to how they should have been all long!!!

I would love to see that happen...

5. In a way, it is a no brainer to all of those in the middle
who kind of casually thought that Bush would be somewhat better than Gore in 2000. I am talking about non neocans, the moderates, who can always vote for whoever...

All they have to do is look back and see what their choice has done, and correct it!!!

3. Not sure the Murkins would elect somebody who they already
believe has lost the election once (notice I said "believe" - as opposed to real fact).

11. Why wouldn't we elect someone who
that had lost a previous election? It has happened before, as recently as Nixon.

24. Welcome to DU, Chris!!
It's probably not impossible - I'm just thinking that in terms of govt. representation, Democrats are already the minority party (strike 1), and then we offer a candidate who "lost" the race previously (strike 2) ... it just looks like two uphill battles at the same time to me.

21. well then we will have to fix that belief as well, won't we.
We've rolled back a lot of 'fixed beliefs' in the last six months since Saint Cindy of the Ditch poked a hole in the reality cloud.

4. I'm okay with that

It shouldn't have been stolen from Al, and I think he would have done -- and will do, given the chance -- a great job. I pray that Kerry stays out of it. After the election fraud in 2000, it isn't like Kerry had NO idea that such a thing could and would happen in 2004.

Sorry, Kerry-ites, but he had many chances to smash the Pube power structure, and he did just about nothing.

I'm still pissed off at the fact that I donated more to the Kerry campaign than any campaign ever, and he let me and everyone else down.

Almost makes me think there is something to that Skull and Bones thing, where they would never dime or rat on a brother.

6. I would love to see that, but don't expect all the wrongs of 8 years
to be fixed immediately. It will take generations to undo the damage BushCo has caused our nation. I would draw your attention to the supreme court as just one example of what is not fixable once he installs a majority of Scalia clones/clowns.

9. It would really be amazing, considering
that the current presidential term doesn't expire until 2009.

18. Expires in late 2008, but I plan to give Bush his pink slip
The day after election day, no need to wait until January...etc.

22. Thankfully it was changed from when a Pres didn't take office until March.
Edited on Thu Nov-17-05 05:55 PM by OneTwentyoNine
of the next year after the Nov election. It'll drive me batshit crazy having to wait from Nov until January 20th in 09 to rid this World of Bush, let alone having to wait until March of 09.

17. Agreed. Al Gore fought back when the election was stolen from him.
He "lost" the 2000 election, but he retained his dignity and credibility with the Democratic base. As long as he doesn't seek an endorsement from the DLC, I'd love to see him run again.

20. actually he didn't fight back at the last,
when the theft was outright and the black caucus was begging for one senator to stand with them, but he certainly fought back a hell of a lot more than 'gotchyer back kerry'.

23. While I agree he could have done better, hindsight is 20/20.
Remember that the Senate was evenly split, Gore didn't want to be the one to vote himself into office.

I think Kerry was the only member of the Senate who had a legitimate excuse to not back the black caucus.

I don't demand perfection from my candidates, people are fallible and prone to fuck-ups. All I ask is that they fight back when pushed.

19. I agree.
I think this is exactly the right idea. A draft Gore movement might just solidify and galvanize the populist Democratic Party anti-establishment - you and me and the 50,000,000 other working class stiffs with blue and white collars who have not drunk the koolaide and are not whores doing the biding of the tweedledee-tweedledum corporate shell game-masters.
