5. It is telling that the Republican Party

has attracted such people to its ranks.

I remember in my youth that there were actual liberal Republicans, and the party was truly the party of Lincoln, in that they believed in social justice. And then the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed. Suddenly, all the racist members of the Democratic Party deserted them, and were welcomed into Republican ranks with open arms. I don't know exactly why the Republicans did this, but it wasn't long before liberal Republicans were gone, and the party went downhill after that. I guess the GOP decided it was more important to gain more power than to have a conscience. And so Robertson and O'Reilly are the natural outcome.

I heard it on C-Span this morning. Wringers are nice people who never call names or play politics. Really. Liberals have divided the country by not going along. And the war was started by Clinton.
