Thank you Warren Beatty and Annette Benning!!!
Edited on Thu Nov-10-05 02:15 PM by LynneSin
I just wanted to start a thank you to this great hollywood couple who recognized that the Gropenator needed to be brought down to reality!!

If you don't know already, as Arh-nuld toured California pushing his special election referendums, the Beattys followed him around campaigning outside of the events and protesting against Arh-nuld's attempt at hijacking California and turning it into a Red State.

I loved the show down where they tried to enter a campaign rally that Arh-nuld was having and they weren't allowed into the venue. Annette screamed out about how the governor is suppose to represent the state and yet they weren't allowed in to see him speak.

So I just want to thank Warren Beatty & Annette Benning for going out there and being people not just of words but also action. California is a better state with the both of you out there!!

Warren did an excellent interview with Ed Schultz a couple of days before the election. He was outstanding!

4. After all the naysaying Hollywood gets
I think it's safe to say that the average American wouldn't have a rat's chance against the business titans without the entertainment industry standing up and kicking ass on occasion. When you look at who stepped up to the plate after Katrina, too, it was mainly the entertainment industry and a handful of real statesmen. No wonder the far-right hates them.

10. She's a doll
There's a movie coming out in January - I believe - in which she stars as Jeanne Harris, of the Herman Tarnower/Scarsdale Diet Doctor murder case.

Annette was not the writer/director's first choice for the lead, but she really wanted it, and, face it, she's better box office than the woman we all wanted, plus she agreed to drop her usual fee in order to get the role.

She's marvelous in it. Brilliant. This is where she'll win her Oscar. And Ben Kingsley, who played Herman Tarnower, is just as good. The supporting cast, including Cloris Leachman, well, they're all just out of this world.

Watch for it. My guess is that there will be Oscar nominations. It was a hell of a shoot, I tell you.

It's called - surprise! - Mrs. Harris, and the writer/director, Phyllis Nagy, is a damn genius. (She's also my friend.)

20. Do NOT sell the house. Do NOT sell the house.
You got great taste.

You'll love the movie.

And the soundtrack is a blast, starting with "Miss Otis Regrets."

If you're not familiar with that song, google it, and read the lyrics, and consider the movie.

22. Yeah, I'll add my Big
THANK YOU, to Annette and Warren!

I said on another thread that they must be happy, as all other Californians who really care about their state, Yesterday!

Thanks to Rob Reiner and his posse, too, for the "phone banking"!

"The truth is, when Americans are treated with respect and receive accurate information, they make wonderfully wise decisions. The system breaks down, however, when the press fails to provide such information, as they do today. The so-called fourth estate is now little more than the public relations arm of a government propaganda machine in which all three branches are controlled by the same political party. Who is watching the store?

In some ways, the mass media are all of our surrogates for the truth – they are our eyes and ears. In days gone by, they were just that. To take but one example, the Washington Post famously risked their entire existence when they pursued a story about a suspicious break-in long after everyone else believed the story was dead. Would they make the same tough decisions today? Would any media outlet? Certainly not if there was a government-issued Video News Release handy.

Americans now face a choice between a news channel and cabal of radio hosts that are an arm of the Republican Party, or a lethargic sheep-like mainstream press that would rather discuss a woman who had cold feet the night before her wedding than the continuing chaos in Iraq, where the number of car bombs detonated was up 50% in April from March. I could go on, but there is no better proof than the fact that about 3 in every 4 people who supported President Bush believed that Saddam Hussein was involved in 9/11 and that we actually found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Massive misinformation is not limited to the Iraq war, of course. Take, for example, the Tom Delay ethics scandal. Over and over we hear that nothing can be done because Republicans control Congress, and the Democrats have no investigative power. The way I remember it, investigation was also the press’ job.

Whether in life or politics, it is impossible to make informed decisions when you are not properly informed. The mainstream media has abdicated its responsibility to the American people, and we all
suffer for it. The press must be held accountable before it is too late."
