What was the defining moment?
When and what was the moment that this illegal regime began to unravel?

Was it when they thought they were above the law and gave out Valerie Plame's name?

Was it forces they couldn't control in Iraq, with the many insurgencies?

Was it nature herself, unleashing her forces with Katrina, Rita and Wilma, showing the true chaos in the administration and lack of experience?

Was it the constant pounding by Democrats to the point where the right began to buckle?

Was it the attitude of the wh right from the beginning with their bully tactics and sheer determination to do things their way?

Was it something else?

Give your opinions on the subject, to see if perhaps some pattern can be detected, and something to keep this shit from ever happening again to our country.

3. Katrina for sure
Shiavo made people look up for the first time, but Katrina pissed them off because that COULD be them stuck in a stadium with no water.

5. "the constant pounding by Democrats "?
Sorry, I didn't see any of that. Otherwise, Terry S. was the start, and Cindy S. was the tipping point IMHO.

8. I think it was Schiavo. Polls shifted dramatically at that moment.
Also, Bush's stupid push on Social Security really hurt the Republicans.

9. Cindy Sheehan asked important questions, spotlight on Bush's vacation
Cindy Sheehan confronted him and put him on the defensive about the Iraq debacle, exposing him as an out-of-touch dishonest coward who was arrogantly thumbing his nose at average Americans with his long bikeriding vacation. After Cindy's strategic blows, Katrina was the knockout punch to his image and credibility as a competent leader.

Events following only built upon that opinion.

12. "attitude of the wh right from the beginning"
When they went to the SC to overturn the Florida court's decision, it became obvious to anyone who cared that they were only about politics over principle.

Each of the other things have caused more and more people to catch on. I think more would have sooner if not for 9/11. But hopefully, enough will have by the 06 midterms to take back Congress and hold BushCo accountable.

13. DeLay indictment, Plame reporters having to finally talk, Katrina,
I can't quite decide, but I noticed the turning of the tide the day I noticed the big screaming headline: DELAY INDICTED!

I know DeLay is in a different branch of government, but let's face it, in this period the executive branch and the legislative branch are ONE. No checks, no balances, no one to protect us from either of those branches (because the third branch looks to be theirs, too.)

Indictments! We need more indictments! And we need more courageous prosecutors like Ronnie Earle and Pat Fitzgerald!

The planets lined up. Katrina, Cindy, the war, Delay, Libby,
gas prices etc etc.
